Medical professional here! THEY (the injuries) FOR SURE ! Can be a result of external injuries that can result in internal damage and can also then result in being cut in a situation such as this. There is no time for imaging and having a patient hold their breathe during this trauma as their breathe already can be labored due to the amount of stress on the body and what she had to physically do to defend herself. I had 2 emergency abdominal surgeries within 3 months. For the 1st one, the ER doc did a CT scan of my belly which showed I had air pockets in a certain area, but beyond that the doc couldn't tell me anything else. I was told the only way to determine what was causing the air pockets was to have surgery so they could look around & figure it out. For the 2nd they also did a CT scan & told me they were pretty sure it was the issue as before but like the 1st time they wouldn't know for certain until they did the surgery & looked around. I don't think the young lady is lying about her stomach injury. I think she is simply explaining HER interpretation of what was done/said to her which is not as medically accurate as a doc's explanation would be.

What happens is that is someone comes to the emergency room unstable, they do a fast exam and if they find internal bleeding or concerning findings, they do an exploratory laparotomy (surgery) to fix the issue. So yes a medical professional would « cut her open » to save her life if they found a laceration and blood in her abdomen.
