She Regrets Her Tattoos, Here's My Response

Morgan Joyce, a tattooed model, shared her story on regretting her tattoo, and as a tattoo collector and friend, I wanted to respond.

Hey everyone. This week I got a lot of requests to comment on Morgan's recent video where she shares experiencing regret for her tattoos. This video has made some waves in the tattoo community, and morgan was even interviewed by inked about the subject. Today I wanted to walk through my feelings on the video, and relate and try to offer insight on why I think Morgan is having these feelings, and the feelings I share with her about feelings of regret and isolation experienced with being tattooed. Of course, all of my insight comes from my own experience, so I can only speculate on Morgan's views, but I am in no way suggesting how or why she should feel. Also, today is her birthday.

I grew up wanting tattoo since I was a child, waited to be 19 to get the first one and my mom told I was going to regret it. When I went for my sixth tattoo she came along and got a tattoo herself. It was my turn to tell her she was going to regret it someday...she got maaad 😂

How come people always say 'you'll regret that' about (coloring our hair bright colors) getting tattoos, piercings or other body mods because they are 'life changing decisions' but they rarely question the consequences of having children or marriage enough? Those are even more life changing but some people don't actually think about that choice. People these days have children. Lets do it. No matter if you are emotionally capable of raising an individual. But if I regret a tattoo then it's my problem, if I scar my child then that's way worse. Just because thats more socially accepted.. That's just something I have been thinking about lately, rant over. Love the video Quack x

Sasylein exactly! I was told I would regret an easily covered tattoo that 90% of people never see. Not once have I been told that I’ll regret moving in with my other half. Or that I’ll regret adoption if I go through with it.

@@Nik.No.K if they didnt then why are the divorce rates so high, why are there so many unadopted children and reports of emotional or physical child abuse? If people would question their own abilities more then people who shouldnt have children wouldn't have them and people wouldnt get married as easily. But marriage and children are socially accepted and barely anyone questions it.. That is what I mean. People question other peoples choices on body modification but they don't ask themselves if they have the ability to actually raise a healthy adult.

My take on "regret" is like this - when someone says "you'll regret X someday" it feels like you are now in a contest with them for the rest of your life, if you do happen to regret X for even 1 moment "they win and you lose" is the feeling and it's completely ridiculous bc everyone is going to regret almost everything at some point in life and it does not mean you are losing at life. It's a moment, the moment may last or the moment could vanish in an instant. Every person I know who is a parent has had a moment where they regret being a parent for example. They love their child/children but in that moment wish they didn't have them. Does that make them a loser? I say no it does not, it makes them human. I could not watch all of Morgan's vid on this, I wanted to hug her so badly and give her some sort of support but could not think of a way to type it without sounding like an "I told you so" or "why didn't you ....." or "I do this to avoid what you're going thru" type of response, which I did not/do not want to give her. I only wanted to hug her and let her know she's human, part of the human club

I quit piano lessons when I was young. My Mother told me that I’d regret it and she was right. It’s one of many regrets or things that I would do differently if I had the chance. If you live long enough I guarantee that you’ll regret something you did in life. If you don’t then you’re probably not very good at evaluating yourself.

Sometimes you don't have to regret things because you know a path is full of decisions you made and roads you didn't take.You can not know if, while you were going to one of those piano lessons, a car may had killed you.

Regret is pointless. Make conclusions, fix something if possible and move on. There are so many things I could have regrets about but all my choices made me me. There were periods in my life that could be thought about as wasted time, and thought it might be the case. Never regretted them anyways because regret gives you nothing and is taxing for your mental health. But in time I realized that those periods of my life were actually extremely important and taught me a lot of lessons. I’ve made a lot of mistakes back in the day and my life was a mess, but I thought a lot about that, analyzed, drew conclusions and started steamrolling through my life, avoiding a lot of mistakes people around me were making. All because I “wasted my time and ruined my life” at some point.

I got my 1st tattoo aged 24 and I’m now 46. Don’t regret any. I find that the people I’ve come across who tend to regret tattoos have started at a young age (teens) I’m not saying all people but I find it’s the majority!

Susan susang I agree, I started at 18, however I had the idea on my wall for 8 months and I made sure it could be hidden when wearing a strapless knee length dress. I also got a linear piece in black only so it was easiest to remove or cover if I changed my mind. I’m only now getting shading added and the floral additions to it four years later. I haven’t regretted mine at all. But, I’m also more mature for my age (internally a grandma). I know a few people who got tattoos for the sake of getting them

I was 25 when I starter. Love them all. Had no friends with tattoos. Wanted them for me, not because someone cool had them. So used to them i even sometimes forget i have them. No regrets. Dont start young.

I got my first tattoo at 22, my second just a month or so ago I'm 25 now. So far I only have artists wanna dos and usually got them two weeks or so after first seeing them. I love them but every now and then I'll have a moment of "was this the right placement" etc.

Susan susang I agree with you! I started when I was 16 yo (I’m now 30) and I didnt have a lot of knowledge about tattoos and tattoo artist. So I went to the closest shop and was happy with for a while but as I got older, had more money and Instagram, I kind of realised that tattoos can be more artistic and next level beautiful.

I've had stretched ears for 5 years now and people keep asking me if I'm gonna sew them later on in life and I'm like "no, probably not". Lately I've been wearing those skin tunnels make it seem as if you don't really have tunnels in your ears (like you only have a fkin hole) and some random guy yesterday was like "oh, you're not wearing your tunnels anymore, Haha, you regret it!"... like what the hell, man.

To all those people who keep bringing 'regret' in a conversation, I will reply: Are we talking about you? Because they're definitely talking from their experience or a projection of their future self. The only time my mom told me I was going to regret a decision, was when I changed my apply to high school from art to math and economy, and I replied: I'm not gonna do what I already know, but what I'm not good at instead, like I've ever did. And she never told me that again. If you're going to learn something, you don't have reasons to regret things.

This is so sad to hear. I’m an introverted socially anxious awkward loner and I’ve always been that way. I had a couple friends with tattoos and piercings when I was in high school. But I’ve never had a squad. And as I grew up I grew away from them. I’m now heavily tattooed and I NEVER care what people think of me. I rock my tattoos and get compliments constantly even though I’m terrible at taking compliments and people scare me. My tattoos help me feel more comfortable in my awkward skin. I know I will never regret having tattoos, but im worried that I'll want different tattoos one day then what i'd get now. I completely understand the tattoo placement regret. My Husband and I are getting the hand and footprints of our baby that we lost tattooed on us both. He doesn't have many, so can fit it in fine. I have quite a few. I wanted the one for our baby on my arm, but... One of my arms has next to no space on it, and my other arm has old self harm scars that are pretty bumped up, so getting something detailed on it would be difficult and unlikely. I love the tattoos that I have, but I wish I had left space for something that would be meaningful at a later date. Although obviously I didn't know that this one would come up.

My takeaway after watching Morgans video, which I think was really well done, is that I think her overall message message (think Seriously about your tattoo choices, in terms of design, artist, placement, purpose i.e. is it just to cover up an insecurity or to fit in with your peers, visibility, longevity, Everything) is really good for people to hear from someone who is heavily tattooed, rather than a judgemental, non-tattooed person.

Regret is a way of self love and learning. I always regretted going to nursing school bc I couldn't finish & it left me in debt and failure. But the stress of school and 13 hr shifts gave way to an early diagnosis of cancer I wouldn't have known about for years. Double edged sword, debt either way.

Wow! The mentions of having the support versus feeling isolated in the suburbs is EXACTLY what I experienced with moving to the Midwest as a tattooed person. Where I live now I get treated like a “tattooed freak show” every time I go into the town I live near. I limit my time there to groceries only. If I want to be with similar folks I have to drive to the city 30 minutes away.

Ive heard the whole regret thing too. I decide long ago that yes, tattoos are forever, no they wont always look as fresh or good as when you first get them, but my tattoos are about me and what i want. I do not regret any of my current tattoos nor will i ever regret them. I understand thats not the case for everyone. All i can say is before you get a tattoo, really consider why you want it and what it means for you. If it has meaning or a memory then you wont regret them

What you say about shyness is really interesting. I started getting tattoos when I began growing out of that and became more outgoing and confident, almost like the confidence allowed me to get them and was like a mark of what I’ve achieved and how I’ve improved.

I started getting tattooed when I was 20 in 1994....I’ve heard you will regret that for 25 years....I can’t even count mine....back then being a punk rock girl and pierced and tattooed having my ears stretched in the 90’s..it was incredibly different as well as very difficult to get a job. Even in local music shops! I’m 45 now still get tattooed and have dreadlocks...it seems like the younger generation jumped into tattoos and all that like fully covered in 1-2 years....but it’s really very very different these days. Very. We pierced and tattooed and shaved and dyed ourselves and there was no such thing as Internet. I will say when you’re my age being tattooed or not being vegan or not (as I’ve been vegetarian for 35 years) it will NOT make a difference. Trust me. I go to my kids schools, meet teachers etc. and it’s all good. I stuck out like a sore thumb I’m tattooed head to toe and the bleached dreads in a white lady....but again Trust me not being around those who do or don’t look like you will be just fine. Just ENJOY what YOU like and you’ll be fine...being tattooed should not make a difference in your self esteem or level of comfort. 🙂

For some of us, it really helps us to feel better about ourselves. It's the best decision weve ever made. I feel so much more confident and feel much better about myself now that I'm tattooed (highly visibly and large pieces). It helps me stand out from the crowd. I am art. Expensive art.

A lot of this sounds like a social media problem. I am heavily tattooed, but people rarely approach me about my tattoos and I don’t have much of a social media presence. I don’t know if my experience is unique but I have never had an intrusive or exhausting experience because of my looks.

I definitely can relate to feeling alone when you're the only person like that. None of my friends are tattooed and none of my coworkers are either. I'm lucky whereas my friends are always interested in my tattoos and love seeing me get new ones. So that eases my feelings of regret. I don't ever have that pressing feeling, but I do get comments from parents or strangers coming into our store that say things like I'll regret those later on. And with a lot of my tattoos being older now, I still don't regret them and I reassure myself that yeah when I'm 80 I'm still gonna rock my Evangelion tattoo. It is so SO hard when you're alone, but I feel better accepting myself and getting reassurance from friends and coworkers that they think my tattoos are dope.

I am 60yrs old, try getting a tattoo 40yrs ago, you went "local" as that was all you knew, consequently, yes, i have have 3 well shitty/shoddy tattoos, but they also define me. Do i regret any, nah, i just grin and get another beer; however, being a heavily tattooed female is still frowned upon in some circles. My ex-wife has 18 tattoos when we went to London (still married at that time; we live in Denmark) people stared at her, but not me, some of the comments were not nice. I think all you ladies are wonderful.

My tattoos never made me feel insecure- except when my family told me they wished I didn’t get any more. It made me feel like I was less attractive or somehow worth less in the eyes of my valued family members. Personally I think large, conspicuous tattoos make women less attractive. I have a couple of small ones, and I think small, dainty ones can be very pretty, but I find the big huge pieces very ugly. Especially on the chest, neck, and hands. However, it shouldn’t matter to you what other people think. If you like them, rock them and own them, but also be aware that there are people that find them very attractive and don’t wanna look at them. And that includes people like the friends and family that you care what they think. My son dated a girl that was very heavily tattooed. She was a lovely girl and I liked her a lot, but when we were all hanging out at the pool, I found them very ugly to look at, so I always came in the house. I never told her she couldn’t come and enjoy our pool, I just excused myself politely because I thought they were ugly and I didn’t wanna look at them. Had nothing to do with how I felt about her as a person.

BansheeDarkling - Your Life choices aren’t always going to be excepted by the people you love and want to be excepted by. I’m sure your mother loves you either way, but you can’t expect to change her mind about how she feels about tattoos just because they’re on YOU. Just because you’re less attractive to her doesn’t mean she loves you any less. I told my daughter the exact same thing. I think she’s stunningly beautiful, but if she got tattoos I would find her less attractive. It has nothing to do with how much I love or respect her.

Tbh a lot of alternative people have an "identity crisis" and suddenly change their subculture, become """normal"""", or even just think about those things. I think that this is a normal part of life and as theres a million different ways to be alternative it makes sense. That and tattoos are permanant so the sudden crisis of wanting a change makes sense; My hair was white blonde for years and then I suddenly just had a crisis and dyed it bright orange. "Regret" and wanting a change is a normal thing and I wish more people talked about it to (hopefully) prevent more folk getting permanant choices on an impulse

I can’t wait to get more tattoos, I love all my tattoos, but I would say that my BIGGEST regret about my tattoos is some of my placements along with my care afterwards for them. I don’t regret any of my babies, I love them immensely.

Glad everyday all my piercings and tattoos are easily covered. It makes it easy for me to go to work and then when I get home change it up if I want! Not everyone cares about this or wants it, but I’ve found it’s helped me have zero regret about them.

Tattoos are permanent. I wouldnt dream of regretting any of my tattoos. Thats foolish. I have collected for 20yrs. 3 rules ive been tattooed by. 1. Professional artists in professional shops only. 2. No hate 3. No visibles ( hands, neck, face)until ALL non visible areas are full.

I definitely agree with tattoos on social media- i only have 4 tattoos, 3 of them were from artists i found on ig. Over time, ig has flooded me so much with tattoos/tattooed people/tattoo culture etc. that i feel almost pressured to get them. And it makes me wonder if i wanted/ want tattoos because of that.

This is awesome-- thank you for being real ALWAYS. I have gotten tattoo removal for over a year and as someone who is not white, hyperpigmentation is a large factor for removal (your skin can turn whiter and look like a scar). This is just something to consider if you're not white or don't have super light skin for removal. DEFINITELY something I did not know. Love you Qcknd!!!

I just finished my sleeve and although i do get a lot of comments like"you ruined your body" I don't regret it or believe ill ever regret it. All my tattoos mean something and getting them has helped me through a dark and difficult time in my life, Its sad she doesn't feel confident because i think she looks so awesome and unique.

It is so crazy hearing all of this. I've lived in Boston my entire life, as as I got older (I'll be 26 in a few days) it is less and less common to meet people without tattoos what so ever. My leg patchwork sleeve that I've started, was heavily inspired by you. But it wasn't you having tattoos that made me want to get tattoos, it was the heavy interest in the culture, and collecting things in general--I'm a huge collector. I just became so fasinated with all of this information that you've given. I've gotten tattooed very fast. I have very large pieces that have covered my leg within the last year. When I look at my body now, I can't even picture myself without them (maybe with different ones lol). They are definitely an extension of myself, and my existence. I'm not sure where I'm going with this exactly, but I'm at about the 11 minute mark and I just wanted to say don't ever feel like a freak. I know this is coming from someone with a whole different experience but you are undoubtly the coolest person in the room no matter what and when people look at you, they're going to know that tattoos or not. These videos are important to do and I'm super glad you are. Everyone should be aware of the other side of the coin.

As a person who occupies a lot of "middle ground" spaces (tattooed but not heavily/ bi/ wierd but not full on nerd) I deeply understand that feeling of being without a community. It takes a hell of a lot more confidence to be in that space and I am grateful that as I've aged, I've found that confidence in myself and built my own ragtag communities for misfit toys. Im opinionated about Morgan She acts without thinking. She speaks before she thinks about consequences. I stopped following her because she was a huge hypocrite when it came to veganism and other topics. She speaks as if she knows everything and would belittle people until things happened to her. Then when people called her out on it she acted the victim. She has that chest piece because of scarification gone horribly wrong. People should not feel bad for themselves following Morgan. It is an example that we have to think about what we're doing for the future This is why I like this channel. You give this information out for everyone to think about different tattoo topics. Tattoo regret is super interesting to me. I regret a tattoo of mine that I'm currently having removed (it's nearly gone!) and I always pictured that if I ever regretted a tattoo, it would be the WORST thing ever and ruin my life. But....I literally never think about the tattoo that I regret unless I'm remembering to book a removal session... like, ever. Do I regret doing it? Sure. Does it affect my life day to day? HELL no I've got way too much going on in my life for that!

I do not regret any of my tattoos. I have tattoos I wouldn't get now for sure, but each of my tattoos marks a specific moment in my life! I'm nearing 40 and I look at the tattoos I've collected since about 1997 and I see who I was, where I was, who I was with... it's like the pictorial of your life. Regret does nothing. Embrace who you are, who you were, even if you made some stupid tattoo choices. You can cover tattoos, you can get new ones around them, accentuate them to update them. But don't waste your days in regret over your physical body. Your mind and spirit are what matter.

The best thing that happened to me was marriage to a heavily tattooed man. He is my freak and we are freaks together. There are times I am very isolated( being a strange person with tattoos in Bozeman montana) so when I leave the house with my little person I fully regret wearing my all black outfit and corset because of the isolation...but then someone says I LOVE YOUR HAIR and I remember that I'm the cool person and confidence comes back.

I love how thoughtful you are when you do response videos and when you talk about your tattoos. It’s important for young people to hear this from you. I didn’t get my first tattoo until I was 30 and I think about how I would have probably regretted any tattoo I wanted in my 20s. I feel very firm with who I am now. A lot of thought and feeling has gone into my tattoos and I will gladly stand up for them and myself if ever confronted. I’m one of the only tattood person in my friend group but knowing them before getting tattoos seems to have solidified our friendship. I like to think they’d accept me always... well unless I was being an asshole. My husband isn’t tattooed but he is very accepting. I just got to finally watch this video and I’m so happy I got to. I only have 4 small tattoos and one big one (almost a half sleeve) and I’m already starting to feel this “regret” and like an outsider. I’m in a college course where I get an internship placement in the field of psychology, and seeing everyone else in the class and professionals around me with no tattoos I’m already starting to feel like unspoken/unconscious divide of me vs. them. I’m not at the level of true “regret” and will definitely continue to get the tattoos I want, but I hate feeling like an outsider in a space where I should feel like these people are similar to me.

Honestly. I like to get spontaneous tattoos. It’s memories for me. I have a tattoo (which was covered) that I didn’t like. It was really bad but I loved it. I have to say I have a lot of mixed feelings about this. Everyone is really different but for me, I got my first tattoo at 18, then waited 5 years until my second. I now have quite a few but only on my legs and back, as a very conscious decision to wait until I am much older (or never) to get tattooed on my arms etc (context - im 28). So I guess because I have been so careful and considered with my tattoo choices and the fact that they are permanent and are present in every part of life, and kept that option open to easily cover up at work or with relatives, make me less sympathetic to people not taking those things into consideration with their choices. I also think the reason ppl may response badly to hearing these things is because if they're in the mindset of getting tattoos and being proud of them, your voice becomes another one saying "you'll regret it one day..." But I do think it is important to have those stories out there, so that in particular, young impressionable adults don't just go getting heaps of tattoos cause its the cool edgy thing, but actually think seriously about the long term consequences of those choices. It does seem to be though that this 'sticking out' and 'not fitting in' with non tattooed people is an issue that you're putting in your own mind. If you turn in around the way I see it is I think you should be proud for the way you stand out, for the way you express yourself as an individual on your body and in other ways. You can see your tattoos as an awesome reminder for that punk life and friends and experiences you have. Anyhow. Havent watched Morgan's video yet so I'll go do that now. But i think that the reason people love/hate/admire/fear/are in awe of tattoos is in no small part precisely because they Are permanent. And to me the idea of someone only just coming to terms with that crashing realisation years down the track (and in both of your cases, after making those tattoos a large part of your identity and/or careers) is...tbh bizarre.

With my most recent tattoo I have finally realized how tattooed im starting to look and I love it but, at the same time im starting to feel like im regretting it. Like you mentioned in the video, I as well have only friends that have minimal to no tattoos and whenever i go to the bars with any of them im known as the "tattooed girl" as if i don't even have a name. I feel like either people only come up to me to only talk about my tattoos or, don't come up to me at all because i am tattooed and so called "intimidating". I happily dont anymore, i love being different, i have bright indigo purple hair, face piercings, stretched ears(only 10mm though) i wear bold colourful makeup with both black, blue, green and purple lipstick & have visable tattoos - and i love standing out at all times🤭, ive never felt better in my own skin than what i am now at 30. I always get told Il regret tattoos but tbh I'd still rather the aesthetic of being tattoos rather than not so it doesn't bother me much if I don't like a tattoo anymore. Furthermore I think it gives me a motive to gain more confidence in my body even if I regret getting some things, it serves as an opportunity to accept myself for who I am. I've been lucky though and haven't (yet) had any negative public reactions so that may change my mind as I get more tattoos because that can be very damaging to mental health.

I watched the original video and a few other responses. As a woman in my 40s, I have the gift of being a little older and I can say that regret isn’t the end of the world. You are not your mistakes. I hope she can learn to love her tattoos again and see them as part of her life story. The general trend I’m noticing is that the older you are when you get a tattoo and the longer you think about it, the less likely you are to regret it. I got mine in my 40s and I love them. The older you are the better you know yourself anyway. Will I regret them in my 60s or 80s? Who knows? But also - who cares? They’ll be great stories at the senior centre. Plus they’re so common now, no one will care. It’s just my skin and my body isn’t permanent anyway.

I know that's not what you're saying- and maybe it's because I'm a tad younger than qcknd. But I think the age of tattoo regret is fading. Lacey Winchester I got my first (noticeable, I did get two tiny tattoos in college) tattoo at 25. I’m now 29, have a super conservative job, and love my tattoos. I can’t imagine ever regretting them beyond the occasional “oh my skin stretched a bit unflatteringly.” That could change tomorrow though. Everyone’s experience in their body is going to be extremely different, and is going to change from stage to stage. Second guessing every decision isn’t going to make anyone happy, and no one fully loves their body all the time (regardless of whether they’ve “modified” it). I guess what I’m trying to say is that loving yourself is a separate thing from how you look, and that learning that has been key to avoiding tattoo regret for me. I could always find fault with some image, but why? It’s a part of me now-just like those first wrinkles, excess pounds, and weird scars. No matter how good your tattoos are, you may have days when you don’t like them. The odds that you’ll always feel regret, or anything for that matter, are pretty low though. Emotions are always in flux, but the core of you doesn’t have to be.

Anyway, I just watched MJ’s video about her tattoo regret and I left her a “TL;DR” comment about how I regret three of my tats. The two I regret the most are - yes - chest pieces. I got them when I was 22 and I’m 34 now. I had a 54 year old man bully me online about them, etc. I won’t go on and on but I want to thank you for this video. There are strength in numbers. I have 12 tattoos and a lot of them aren’t visible that I love, but there’s still that regret about the chest pieces. I have horrific anxiety as well. I love what you said about having so many people saying “You’ll regret the tattoos when you’re older” so much. As someone contemplating getting tattoos, this channel is invaluable to challenge me why I want them (and it is reassuring me that in my circumstance, I am under the right mindset when going into it). I’m turning 23 in a few months and only stuck to piercings until I started to really consider tattoos since a few years ago but never did it because I knew my mom would be sad for a short period of time. I love my tattoo so much but..in regards to this topic, I have had moments of regret when my tattoo has become an inconvenience to me (people trying to touch me, random strangers asking me to lift up the rest of my sleeve so they can look at it, my mom being so adamant that I will regret it). i had a very bad skin condition last winter which made me break out in super itchy hives all over my body for months and nothing seemed to help and i had to go to the hospital in the end. and during that time because of the hives and the subconscious scratching, especially at night, the traditional style tattoo i have on my thigh was super swollen. (i have two other tattoos that aren't that bold and didn't react at all) and sometimes at night when i was especially itchy i looked at that tattoo being terrified of what i had done to myself by permanently adding this foreign substance to my body and feeling so disgusted by it. since my skin has healed my relationship with that tattoo has normalised again though and i'm happy i have it. but that feeling of disgust for the foreign substance in your body isn't something i have ever heard somebody talk about in connection to tattoo regret.

I felt this exact way. I have several tattoos. Then I got my first one I've had since I was 18 touched up/recolored. I have reactions to the ink used in it. It flares up. I think I'm allergic to the reds used and the white. I would jab at it in hatred and disgust and and wondering wtf I have done to myself. But now it rarely flares up and I've gone back to being indifferent about it. It's funny bc it's my least fav tattoo but I get the most compliments on it. I almost impulsively correct people when they compliment it haha.

This video made me feel things so here is my essay. I like that you spoke about community and hanging out with other tattooed individuals. While I don’t regret being a heavily tattooed woman it’s definitely a lot more difficult than I anticipated. I live in medium/small town Indiana and do not know any other tattooed/modified people. I’m regularly harassed by strangers on a weekly basis and can’t go out to stores without being a spectacle. I’m naturally a very introverted person but I know my tattoos have caused me to isolate myself even more. I often wonder what it would be like to hang out with someone else who is visibly tattooed. Young people look too me to validate their tattoo choices and tell them that their parents are wrong but despite loving my tattoos and how I look, I often warn them against it because regret is definitely real.

I think part of the problem is relating physical alterations as something that can make someone ‘cool’. At the end of the day, they are just changes to the way people look, not who they are on a deep level. Coolness can’t be pierced into or tattooed onto someone but people think it can be. The people I’ve met that are heavily tattooed to make themselves cooler and ‘harder’ are generally arse holes who don’t have levels to their character. The actually cool people I’ve met some have been tattooed quite heavily but they don’t shove it in your face. It’s just one of the layers of things that they are into but their coolness comes from who they are as a person.
