Looking great for an almost 60 years old!!! First; she needs to cut Up the credit card; stop buying anything she does not need; & prioritize saving a little more monthly (automatic deposits ). Start contributing to A Roth IRA in addition to her job’s 401k & just keep pushing through !!! The fact she’s asking for help is a good thing💯💯. Discipline, determination, perseverance , confidence & continuing to learn more about financial planning & goal setting is 🔑!!! Good luck 🍀 Marva❤!!! & Stop helping financially irresponsible grandchildren; they have more time to recover than you do @ 60!!

I read an article long time ago that black women were 9 times more likely to end up broke and homeless than any other nationality, ( I didn’t believe it. ) Then I realized that black women are usually supporting many family members. ( adult son’s rent, a good lawyer for a nephew, mom’s costly medication, Parent Student loan payments for our beloved daughter, paying taxes & utilities at grandma’s house for a sister who just won’t work) Many of beautiful black womenfolk will be in the same boat ( elderly & no real savings:debt payments) We need to wake up , and get our savings/investing lives together so we aren’t broke and homeless.

Ms Marva, I am a 62 year old grandmother as well. My 22 year old niece needed a car and we got her a cash car. $3,000. it aint pretty but it works. Your grandaughter needs to sell that car get a old reliable hooptie. She isnt going to be happy but she needs to drive what SHE can afford. Good luck and never again CO SIGN for anybody.
@CarlaQuattlebaum
@CarlaQuattlebaum 4 ай бұрын
@@user-fw4ty6iz7v Yup! Granddaughter needs to learn she's got to drive what she can afford, not what she wants. What she wants is probably way out of her budget. She should have never asked Grandma to co-sign UNLESS she ONLY needed a NAME in addition to hers on the loan contract. She should have PROMISED Grandma, she would make ALL the payments and be grateful Grandma co-signed, but would never obligate Grandma except for her signature. I know this isn't how most co-signings work, but the one who needs the co-signer needs to show their gratitude for help getting the car by making ALL payments themselves.

Simple put, they are using you. My sister and her daughters tried to use me to cosign for house, cars, my IRAs and go half with everything. My sister just want things and she spends like crazy. She is selfish and evil. I do not communicate with her at all. Tired!

I love that you're doing this Anthony. There are many people who were never taught or even knew where to begin to learn fiscal responsibility or personal finance. There are also folk that are afraid to tell others "no." Unfortunately, this gets them into unfavorable financial situations. She's a brave lady and I'm glad that you're helping her on and off screen.❤

This is really sad. She couldn't get a house in her name but she signs on for her grandkids (probably) car? Now, her credit that's probably never been good is just getting worst. Unfortunately, the granddaughter won't sell the car because she's most likely upside down on it.

I absolutely know how Ms Marva feels. It's tough to tell your loved ones no. She will get through this. After helping just ONE(1) of my children through 3 cars, 2 cell phone contracts, paying rent, I've learned my lesson and got it together. I still have a little CC debt from traveling but I also have a small emergency fund that's growing. The goal can be achieved. Stay steadfast. You are strong enough.

Agree with the gentleman, debt consolidation is the worst !!! I learned the hard way but quickly realized I made a mistake and took my accounts back. They took half of the money I saved meanwhile your credit score goes in the toilet !!! You can take care of your debts by yourself directly with the credit card companies. And stop using the cards in the meantime. Be disciplined and consistent! This gentleman gives great advice and his demeanor is so pleasant 😅 . Great video !
