Hey Matt, I “have” a cabin in Montana on the Stillwater river. It was completely taken away by the recent 100 year flood. 100% gone. It was 1 of 11 that was destroyed. 80 more having damage. Deciding if we want to rebuild eventually! If we do, you are more than welcome to enjoy it whenever you want!

Montana is beautiful. I lived in Great Falls for 3 years, it is close to Belt. My family and I loved it. I would go back in a heartbeat. The sluice boxes are a great hike, but the water is cold.

Oh but she's a sneaky one... If you've been with the channel for a few years, you know that Mere actually would have preferred a mountain house over any Texas mansion. At one point Matt even got charmed into saying that he would entertain the idea of having a second house in the mountains, only to get back on his steps a bit later. If they do this, then Mere will extend their time in Montana year after year until it's reverse and Texas will become a winter hide-out during skiing high-season when too many tourists are polluting her mountain slopes... I'm 100% with her on the whole strategy though hahaha

But even if they think it too harsh in the coldest month, I still think it would be more likely that Texas would become their winter ranch and Montana the primary home. That’s such an amazing place. I hiked there last year while visiting the area and that water was FREEZING! You should definitely get a place there. Montana has the highest ratio of pews to people in the country.

The Montana Chapter of the Demolitia here. Guns laws here are very similar to Texas on the front end. On the back end however we are protected by the state government from federal government a bit more. We have open carry and counseled with no license required. We have a bill that prohibits Montana state and county level law enforcement from assisting federal agencies in enforcing any gun regulations. The NFA laws are pretty cool. The registry is all by county and not by the entire state. You still have to do Form 4 for those. 4473 for all the from FFL purchases. Hit me up guys, I made the move 3 years ago from Texas to Montana. I would be happy to answer any questions.
