It's based on a real woman's experiences. She wrote about her life and then gave her clients (when she is a maid) codenames and wrote about the secrets she discovered about their lives and what they are REALLY like...because people can start out awful only to become good. The Maid genuinely didn't have her life together and before you judge the lady hiring her for being too judgemental think how you would react to someone you hire not showing up and acting a little off before passing out in front of you. In fact the maid's friend steals the dog and while the maid does return it she is literally expecting praise or even a reward while doing so. Of course the lady is freaking out on her because she realizes that her dog was taken deliberately. Besides the talking down and asking if she can do basic reading I don't think the wealthy woman ever really stepped over the line herself given the situation. And the asking if she's on drugs is a valid concern.
