Possibly, or it was just a coincidence that just luckily played into that scene well. Because that scene when homelander said "I don't need you" was probably just seen as him symbolically killing of the weak him that needs everyone to love him or something but now that season 3 came out with the split personality scene, it was either a hell of a coincidence the writers thought up or they did it on purpose. But I do believe they might have thought ahead bcuz I read the boys comic and there was a scene in there were homelander talked to himself in the mirror, it also makes sense bcuz they seem to take some things from the comics more in season 3 like when homelander said "the only man in the sky is me" which was a line straight outta the comics
