I remember hearing this song right after Kobe Bryant passed away and I grieved for Vanessa Bryant, I felt so bad for her losing her children and husband like that. As a mom that lost a child that is the most unbelievable pain anyone can go through. My son been gone 11 years and it still feel like it was just yesterday. I love this song but it really hits home!

Another Toni sing that I really love is How Can an Angel Break my Heart - very soft and beautiful. Karyn White is an artist from the 80's - very similar to Toni - with an amazing song called Superwoman. Starts out slow but has this incredible build up at the end. Also End of the Road by Boys to Men is one of my most favorite songs on the planet. Motown Philly is another great one as well.

we were in our 4th year high school that time back in the late months of 1996 and our only means of time passing was to wait for this video to be played on MTV Asia... Toni Braxton was the first singer I ever knew who had a low voice in such a low register that it actually made me feel comfortable singing her songs. Her register is extremely low. It is a very strong alto voice. Before her the only person I ever knew to have a very strong alto voice in the music scene was my own mother.

For such a tiny lady, she has an incredibly powerful voice. Believe it or not, this is one of those rare slow jams that successfully transitioned to the club scene. YES!!! You finally reacted to the most successful singer to come from my home state of Maryland!!! Toni and her family are from Severn, Maryland (part of northern Anne Arundel County and not that far from Baltimore. Her family has a long line of pastors and it was reported that her father did not approve of her "sultry, sexy" vocals when her debut album was released, containing three top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with "Breathe Again" being her biggest at the time (reaching #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 & peaking at #4 on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart) (almost identical to how the father of The Pointer Sisters reacted to their "lyrics" that were not "holy.") in 1993. She would finally score her first #1 song on the Hot 100 Chart in 1996 with "You're Makin' Me High." But it was this powerful masterpiece that vaulter her into super stardom. My Dad died in 1996 when I was 10. I had a lot of emotions. We dedicated the song "Because You Loved Me" from Celine Dion's "Falling Into You" album from earlier that year. That album along with Toni Braxton's "Secrets" were played a LOT. They both helped me sing and cry my heart out because their vocals were so powerful. It was hard not to sing and feel.
