Not sure if the woman in the video will see this reply, but I had THE SAME ISSUE. I selfishly loved seeing this video because I know I'm not alone. I felt so much shame about this issue, but I shouldn't have. And neither should she. I moved away to college (only 20min from my parents) and couldn't do it. I moved back out of the dorms the same day. I was terrified, so I commuted from my parents' house. I tried again the next year and made it one night before moving home. I was physically ill because I was so nervous. Four years later when I went to grad school, I moved out again--this time about 90min from family. And it stuck! The first few days were really hard. I cried a lot and regretted making the move. But I refused to go back home (even for a visit), and I didn't let myself call my parents. I knew if I heard their voices I'd bail. But 4 days in, when classes started, I was totally fine! I loved living alone! I loved having my own space, more freedom, and just feeling more independent. *IF* you want advice: Stay busy. Let yourself feel sad/scared for a bit, but then get out and do something. Hang out with friends. Do a project in the new place (decorating helped me). Go to the gym or exercise however you like. Don't call the people you miss for at least a week. In sum: You can do it!!

I agree with ways on how to stay busy but in my case I’d like to call them every night, I wouldn’t mind having my own freedom and living alone but I know it’ll affect my family, my parents and my two younger brothers. It’ll hit them hard and take time to adjust thats for sure.

Glad that you didn't just give up. Although I hope you received counseling for your anxiety. I have anxiety also, so I know. Moving out on your own is usually a bit scary, but it's doable.

It's always a hard transition to moving on your own but it's really worth it if you're ready financially and mentally

The ironic thing is some people feel better at parents home while others like me, thrive being outside and feel very depressed going back to parents

I am moving out with my partner, currently twenty three, I felt super ready and as soon as I told my parents, I felt instant regret and guilt…I’m excited to start a new chapter but afraid

That was such a kind response. I was expecting them to lowkey shame her bc I feel like fear with moving out is seen as a weakness rather than a valid feeling. Loved the response.

The most frustrating thing for me is knowing that I want this change for myself, but at the same time, I'm so afraid of no longer having my parents nearby, especially since I'm pretty close with them

Meanwhile I'm terrified of moving back in with my parents. I left my nursing job feeling burn out after saving a ton of money and started my own business. It's been slow and my parents and sister wants me to move back home. I still can live on my own for like 3 years with no money coming in but by then I hope I'd get more money coming in. But my parents want me back but last time I was back, I was soooo depressed and felt like a failure due to Asian parent pressure.

Sir .. I'm from India and I'm really overwhelmed with the thought .. buying so much materialistic things or sharing on social media or storing unneeded in our houses or over consumption of food doesn't makes me realatable now... Moreover it's a month that I have changed my wardrobe from colourful , dozens clothes to 4 black-tshirts , 2 black shirts and 3 jeans .. which really reduces the time and makes mee more comfortable and confident in those clothes..

Hmmm....she is moving out of her parent's house but into her sister's. This isn't really moving out on her own.

When I was 18 I moved out very easily without thinking twice. Being financially prepared and willing to do it helped me a lot. 😀
