Things are a bit better now. I wanted to hear you react to a song. This popped up. Jamel, I am old and was around in the 60's and 70's when I would hear these great old songs for the very first time ever as they debuted on the radio. It was an anticipation missing from todays world of music. One thing I am deeply grateful for is how some of the young artists of today show so much respect to the originators of the songs they cover. They don't as you say just try to sound like the original, they stay true to the song but break it down to a level that shows their own skills. Too many to name, but Sina, of Sina Drums, Emily Linge, Noah Benedikt, Emma Marie and countless other young artists trying to make their way do just that. One of the most moving covers I've seen lately is Emily Linge completely deconstructing and re-arranging Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark. As with all of the ones I've mentioned she plays multiple instruments and sings. If you haven't already listened to that song by Emily, please just take a moment to enjoy it for your own pleasure. I sure hope "The Boss" has heard it by now. I bet he's blown away. Hope all is well in your universe my music friend.
