For every singer, it's just a matter of proper song choice to match her vocal range and style, and of course how well she knows the chosen song. That's what every vocal coach out there will tell you. It's not that you can sing all songs that's limiting your vocals, but you can always transpose and arrange a song in a style rendition or genre that you're comfortable with, otherwise known as "improvised music". Simply put, you will do great if you have much freedom doing the things that you want rather than restraining yourself to a set of rules singing a song that you are not so familiar with or aren't comfortable performing which hinders or suppress your creativity.

Hmm, average came to my mind. Those random men and women are not buskers singing in the streets to earn money, they just like to sing and yes most of them doing it badly. He would get better interactions if he would do this gig in cities during fairs, carnivals aso. But it is a great way to interact with fans, not just only with the guitar minded.
