I love how he didn't accept the first applause but completely honored the second one as it was for his mother

A slew of chills smacked me right at the end. His delivery is incredible. I also like how he didn't try to use personal beliefs as a part of his argument.

Poetry like this can't be disliked, I find this type of poetry merits as much praise as anything written by the likes of Eliot and such.

Actually, it is mentioned in reference in the poem, just not in depth simply because the woman's mistakes weren't the topic of the poem. The poem was about her accepting her past and looking toward her future (with a bit of pessimism). He said it took her some time to herself to discover that "having love is even more important than having a lover" I'm sure the time she took to herself was her understanding her bad choices with lovers without love. So it was mentioned, just not dwelled on.

I wouldn't say so, he just has a very adept grasp on his sense of self. He knows what mistakes he can't afford to make in his life and knows how to speak OUT LOUD about it.
