I'm a Wealth Manager and here is a tip - most Wealth Managers are NOT flashy. If your Wealth Manager lives in mansions, drives numerous luxury cars and wears nothing but designer, you need to look more in to that - because they're living large on somebody's dime - and odds are they're living large on YOUR dime. Any Wealth Manager worth their salt wouldn't be that darn obvious

Part of the problem is that people don't know. They think that because someone is wearing Gucci, they're a great Wealth Manager because the 'Wealth Manager' is outwardly flashy and it's an expensive brand. Gucci isn't an investment - I don't wear it or any other obvious brand when interacting with clients. If I showed up to a client appointment blinged out, people I work for would have questions. Are they paying me too much? Who am I trying to impress? I lead by example - showing people I'm good with MY money will tell them I'll be responsible with their money.

Any lawyer, FA, etc. can be a crook. They're very very very savvy with disguising what can look truly legit...to YOU. High cost lawyers, FA's, high retainers don't mean that you can trust them. I've seen lawyers over Trust accounts siphon the accounts and doctor up the statements to show you whst SHOULD be there, but really isn't. Always have someone to watch the overseer of your accounts. Like a forensic accountant.

As a business major, getting a degree is one thing as it relates to applied sciences, but putting into practice the fundamentals takes time, training, and experience. Shaq won’t just come out the gate swinging unless he already was exposed to a particular field. Anyway, they always say you need an accountant for your accountant and a lawyer for your lawyer. At the very least, count your own money.

You never trust anybody right off the bat. This is how con people like her act they insinuate themselves into your life, gain your trust and confidence and then take you for as much as they can. It doesn't have to be you trust everybody or you don't trust anybody. If you have a good sense of who you are as a person then you are discerning about who you trust based on how well you know them, their behavior and how you feel around them. You slowly let people in because then you can be more sure about them and also put them back out again if necessary. If you had healthy parents you can do this . If you didn't have healthy parents you need to work on your issues and develop healthy self esteem and boundaries. If you don't have these 2 things con people, like narcissists and sociopaths, will sniff you out and take you for everything. At least 10% of the population is a narcissist or a sociopath. Almost all con people fall into this category of "people".
