Ever since the state stopped backing the industry in 2010, C-dramas haven't had the varied dynamic looks that used to exist in the 90s and 00s. Don't get me wrong, I think it's important to let the industry stand on its own without a crutch, but when profit is the goal, there's no reason to deviate from a formula that works.
