I never understood why she liked April so much with how she was okay with being with a married man. I understand her likeing her otherwise but goodness that moral stance would turn me off knowing she wasn't a good person. No wonder the neighbor had to drawl a line with the drama..

I haven't seen the show, but from the shorts she looks desperate for love or in love with the guy and maybe a little as if she didn't think she'd get anything better. More importantly, that guy is a professional cheater. If a guy is only faithful because no women agrees to help him cheat, that's by no way better than a guy who cheats. And he has cheated with so many women. I really don't blame her but rather pity her for seeing more in him than cheating trash.

I havent watched it but i will talk about real life during that time period: cheating was the only personal choice a woman could really make then. It was an expression of sexual freedom for them (in their own fucked up way) because they were entirely oppressed by law and on average by their own husbands. Cheating rates were vastly higher and cheating was normalized but still taboo for the husbands as well- this resulted in a pretty relaxed response from women to women as they were ALL in the same situation ultimately.

Oh absolutely I really wish that was more of a style in the contemporary world because those lines are a lot more flattering on me than modern fashion for damn sure. I was such a tomboy and never would’ve known that but a colleague invited me to a costume party MadMen viewing party for the final episode way back when… He is a absolute look-alike for the actor who played Roger Sterling and I am a curvy redhead who did a dime store version of secretary Joan And the dress his husband made for me to wear was flattering, comfortable, and classy…. I love that he suggested I do it because totally out of my comfort zone but so fun.

I dont understand the mindset; how can you be ok being the person helping someone cheat? Dont you know theres always a 50% chance theyll do the same to you? Why ignore the risk?//genuine questions not judging and ill only judge the coments if they are being assholes
@ChanelCoco-pk7mp
@ChanelCoco-pk7mp 16 күн бұрын
It’s usually women who are not high value women, women who have “Daddy Issues”, women who lack in morals, women who have no self respect, who go after men that are looking to cheat. Any woman with an ounce of self worth will respect herself enough to say no and walk away. Women who go with married men or men already in relationships, are clearly so desperate for any form of love that they will go for the slightest inkling of interest from a man. It’s pathetic but unfortunately there are many women out there who are like that unfortunately. This character April had witnessed DV as a child, when her own Father would DV her mother, she had the heartbreak of seeing no one protecting her mother even though everyone in the family knew, so she already had a poor outlook on the world to begin with and maybe she was somehow executing her sick revenge on her own mother in a way and viewed her own mother in every single wife of the men she went with. It’s sick but that’s the way things can get for some
@yucol5661
@yucol5661 16 күн бұрын
Well, think of it this way. She IS worried and she is NOT ignoring the risk. I think in real life people can’t think in thousands of ways but im sure not every person who is with a cheating husband knows that they are married or cares that they might cheat on them. Not everyone is possessive or jealous or looking for a long term relationship. And just like the wife, the unmarried person involved with the cheating husband could believe that they love them and wouldn’t cheat this time . Anyone can believe. If the WIFE herself could believe wrongly that the husband is loyal, what is there to say the other woman couldn’t also believe the husband won’t break her hearth too? Specially being in love and having that clouding judgement. Also, the unknown chance of cheating is there on EVERY marriage. Being the other woman only gives you the knowledge that the man has cheated before, with you. But everyone else is ALSO at risk of being cheated on, and they manage to live with it fine. It’s trust. Often misplaced but still.

So in this show April doesn't want to get married or have a serious relationship. Being with a married man gives her all the perks of a boyfriend (or nearly) and the freedom to pursue her own career without the pressures of the typical guy wanting her to stay home and have kids...although once he knocks her up she sings a different tune.

Sometimes that's the point. Not everyone wants 'everything'. Sometimes a woman just wants a bit of companionship... without the burden/ stress of a full time partner. A couple nice dates a week... an occasional nice gift & no drama or expectations. This works well for women w high stress careers and or children/ custody agreements/ limited free time. Wanting 'it all' doesn't always work out well for the woman... or man. Depends what stage of life you're currently in. Most women involved w married men aren't trying to replace the wife. Some are... but they aren't very smart setting their sights on a cheater for a long term partner. Best when both are on the same page & just desire a little break from their realities.

@@DonaBologna You're disgusting! Get a divorce, then find another man! What a cop-out! “We were both in failed marriages and couldn't help it. Sometimes it just happens”!🙄 You're a narcissist and the only thing that matters to you…is you! I hope you enjoy your short-lived marriage to your ill-gotten new “love”! Because one of you will cheat again…will it be you? Or, will you be the one cheated on? I wish I could see your sadness, desperation and trauma when you find out! Or, maybe you’ll both just live with the misery of distrust for each other in your ENTIRE relationship! That's some fun Karma too! When he changes the screen right when you come into the room or hurry and ends a phone conversation, works late, deletes his texts, takes extra cash off each purchase, he isn't where you think he should be throughout the day, his location turns off several times…but he has such a great excuse(or, he refuses to share his location with you for some strange reason), you find yourself sneaking to look through his phone late at night…because something feels off(but, just maybe he has an extra phone somewhere!), his friends start to act funny around you…should I go on? You know all the tricks! Welcome to having a cheating spouse! Or, maybe you will just cheat first, so it won't hurt so bad when you find out he did! Have fun! You’ve earned it!!!😂🤣

From what I’ve seen, they usually get theirs in the end. Karma usually comes back around to smack them a good one. Both of my separated parents were exactly like his kind of low moral quality person, and let me tell you it did NOT end well for either of them. Their shenanigans only lasted as long as their good looks did. Both of them failed miserably at life over “exactly” this sort of poor decision making and zero accountability or impulse control. Dad’s dying of cancer and no one cares if he lives or dies because of how selfishly and how evil he lived his life, and after mom’s looks went so too did the interest in her because her character was so bad that no one can stand her. Not a soul in her entire extended family speaks to her and she ended up in a trailer hoarding it up with junky crap. In her heyday she was sleeping with married rich men and single ones. Millionaires. Now she can’t get anyone to look her way and no one wants to talk to her anymore. One of her cheating lying friends who slept with married men ended up bludgeoned to death in a hotel room and they never caught the person responsible. Her husband was so tired of her shi- that he refused to even put a headstone on her grave. There used to be a dollar store stepping stone there but now there is nothing. Not even a name plaque. That’s what her cheating got her in the end. Her family just wanted to forget her.

For some it’s an ego thing. They feel low about themselves so if they can get a man, who’s already committed, to stray then it makes them feel like they are “better” and therefore have worth in their own eyes. It’s quite sad when you really think about the psychology and sense of lack within a person that fuels that behavior
