It’s amazing how much beliefs they teach us around money hold us back. How is nobody talking about 'Forbidden Laws of Wealth' by Victor Hayes, it really opens your eyes.

Something doesn't add up. Why would the company that acquired her company, close it down if they had $8M annual sales and 90% gross margin. Even if they missed sales by a huge amount the gross margin would still make the business highly worth while to keep going. It sounds like some parts of this story, perhaps the harder truth about business, was not included
@TheWayofKen
@TheWayofKen Ай бұрын
2 reasons possible: They had other and even better opportunities. They lacked the chops/passion to make it work as well as she did, i.e.- it's not uncommon for buyers of someone else's business to retain (at least for a while) the former owner to make for a smoother transitions and benefit from the former owner's insider knowledge.

From the interview it sounds like the PE firm that bought it were losing a lot through inefficient ad spend and we’re not hitting their own targets. This is why you’ll often see PE firms buy companies at an amount that makes no sense. The risk is on the shareholders vs the actual PE firm. They buy the company, PE firm gets $. Sell the company, PE firm gets $. So even if the firms sells at a loss, they still walk away with cash. Of course shareholders will eventually bail if they keep losing money and the ideal situation is a win for all sides…. But the % cut is what makes some of the transactions make no sense when you take them for face value. I recently saw a company with less than $3m in gross revenue and barely $250 in owner benefit sell to a PE firm for $20m. It makes no sense until you realize that the PE firm purchased the company with shareholder funds while they got the % cut on the transaction. Yes you can make a case for growth, optimization etc., but that’s a high dollar amount to pay for a company that has no added value from IP or brand. Also, revenue is down 40% since the PE firm took over and staff are leaving. This is only a single anecdote of course.

Building wealth from nothing involves consistent saving, disciplined spending, and strategic investments. Begin by creating a budget to track expenses and identify areas for savings. Prioritize paying off high-interest debt and establishing an emergency fund. As you build a foundation, start investing in low-cost options like index funds, and focus on continuous learning and improving your skills for better income opportunities.
