Another documentary also name “a way out” it about how families like the first girl borrow and selling everything to bet on the education of their children but the end results are not much different if their have just worked in the factory because the education resources are very limited in rural China. Being top of your class in rural China doesn’t not mean you can get in to a good University. Most end up in bad university and end up working in jobs that does not required a degree.

wei hai how can a frog living in a well all it’s life think or know about the bigger world.
Sorry for my rusty Chinese. I truly wished her story was going to be a happy one, it breaks my heart to see her parents think that girls do not deserve an education because my grandparents were the same way. Wishing her all the best!
This is one of the most amazing channels i've ever seen omfg

Thank you for this essential relevant documentary - what lives we live - and how much we know about each other’s lives is what matters most to our individual happiness. After all there’s more joy in giving than taking -
Hi! I'm Cristian and I'm from Chile in Latin America. I recently saw this video and was a very touchy experience. I like to thanks for the people behind this masterpiece, we need people like you, you're necessary for our society. We need to know "other realities" and we need to improve them. Thanks very much. If there any option that I can see the documentary in any platform? Thanks again and best regards from Santiago of Chile.
Documentary directors in China often produce works which are so outstanding and touching that dwarf their counterparts of box office busters. China becomes real through their lens.

Jenny Man ,我认为你说的是对的

Jenny Man A lot of it is Chinese politics, but actually sometimes we live in China, and even if you know it, as a 25-year-old girl, it doesn't help

Jenny Man 那是因为中国是一个发展很不均匀的社会,而且也是在不同社会形态下过渡阶段,一半封建一半资本,充满了冲突。所以题材很多。在一定程度上,中国的纪录片导演比国外好做。
a wonderful documentary. thank you for capturing beautiful souls

i agree, you live for yourself. yourself before others. this is not called selfish, it's called survival. if you can't take care of yourself, you can't take care of others. you're happy, everyone else around you will be as well

i remember hearing that where you're born determines 80% of your fate. maybe it's not wrong, esp. when you look at the girl from gansu. xu jia is poor but at least he's living in a city so he was able to improve his life. the beijing girl had it best and she'd never be poor. i bet her parents have multimillionaires. and even if not, just being born in beijing gave her an edge over others. life is not fair, deal with it.

11lifesux well my dear, you could first improve your English. Did you mean her “parents have millions” or her “parents are multi-millionaires” those a slightly different meaning. What you wrote are not correct English.
