Hi Hair Buddha, you have an amazing channel! I have a hair question and would be so grateful for your time. My hair is long (almost waist length), thick, frizzy when its humid, and a bit dry and brittle because I use a hair straightener every three days. It is not coloured or bleached. I understand from watching your videos that I need protein treatment for strength (e.g. fibreplex) and also moisturising treatment to help make it less frizzy. Is this correct and how often should I use treatments, for example should I alternate between the two every time I wash my hair? I am not concerned about weighing my hair down because it is thick. Thanks so much!

Yesterday my daughter and I bleached her re growth. Pleased to say we used 20vol and left it on a while. We kept on checking the hair colour rather than timing it. She got a great result. We also added Jplex by Jerome Russell in the bleach solution. Thank you Hair Buddha for giving us the knowledge to do it safely with amazing results.

I actually quite liked the final product of the split dye effect…I feel even though it didn’t turn out as she wished it still looked ok. It is hard to do full long hair blonding on your own for sure. I felt she was very organised, had thought most of it thru other than using coconut oil prior. She wore gloves, had obviously sussed out the products before hand and did as well as she could on her own. Sometimes you’d rather do it that way than entrusting in an office der who still doesn’t have much exp on doing hair anyway. I have very short hair and I cut and colour my own and have done for many years. Yes, there have been a few times where I experienced the unwanted few leopard spots from seepage thru cap and also many times where after you wash it out oopsies a tad orange. BUT, there’s been nothing that wasn’t fixable some how. I’ve had many lovely comments on my own hair cuts and often others assume iv been to an expensive hairdresser. Makes me feel good as I am definitely NO hairdresser, I guess I just have the knack. I’m enjoying your channel and seeing the good, the bad, and the ugly (even the funny) of everyone’s attempts. The fringe cuts are probably the best giggle….. Keep up the videos and take care..Lisa in West Australia x

I’ve been using that that brand of semi permanent color on my hair for the last year and it is so pigmented that it probably would’ve even covered the orange if she hadn’t cut it with conditioner. I’ve used their purple, blue, deep blue, bubble gum pink, silver, and platinum. Outside of the pastels, these have so much pigment it’s crazy. After trying several shades, I landed on their basic blue and it’s so pigmented that it covers my new growth and blends it into my bleached ends really nicely. It even sticks to grey, which most semi-permanent colors don’t. If she’d just done a few strand tests! 😫

Its depend of your hair, some white/gray hair absorb the fantasy colors/direct pigments, some don't. In my case I have salt and pepper hair (more salt than pepper lol) and direct pigments or fantasy colors don't dye my hair, I need to bleach it first (just the roots). I would a video about colouring natural grays too!, specially using non ammonia products (which don't work on my hair either).
@katherine12022 жыл бұрын
I've done it with Brite Organix purple, which is a direct dye; however it did wash out faster. My hair strands are quite fine though, if yours are coarser it may not take as well. If that's the case you'd need a dye with a developer, which would probably dye the non-grey hair too unless you can separate the grey from the non-grey.

I do split dyes all the time, vasoline is your friend, use it to protect your skin from both bleach and colour staining. Old towels on the floor and over the benches are a must in this house. Coconut oil is great.........as a smoother, I like to use it a few days before an event as it makes my hair shiny. Her first bleach was a lot more runny than the mix I use, a creamier texture would do better coverage.

Hello! I'm new here. I already love this channel. Just one mention, from my experience: It's not a good idea to put purple shampoo or toners over dark hair. It won't show, but it will still be there and if you later (within 1-3 months) decide to lift the dark hair you can get very unwanted results, such as bright pink staining, blue stains, green splotches and pretty much any color in the rainbow, you never really know what to expect. You can cover it up (bleach can't fix it), but with a lvl 6-8, maybe even a lvl 9 permanent color. Toners can't really cover this type of situation (Unless you get very creative perhaps?!).
@jennifermarshall4780 Жыл бұрын
I don’t understand the whole hair coloring and oil treatments together. I’ve never done that in my entire life and I never would. I don’t think it would work well. Thank you. You said it after I was trying to understand this. Yeah it would block it. It doesn’t seem compatible at all. Oh my gosh that foil crunch I mean after watching so many hair films they all crunch it no professional does it that way maybe they should start watching professionals do a hair color because they don’t ever crunch the foil they put it in it and then they barely crease it, so yeah, I don’t know, but I’ve never seen an aluminum foil crunch come out OK.
