@@ichmeiner4531 Because it's untrue. There were some identical twins cast to play extras, but it was not every single extra in that scene. The majority of the doubles you see are just one actor but different camera shots so it looks as though they're walking past two or more times.

I have another factoid about that scene: I've been a Matrix fan since it came out in 1999 but I never really knew where it was filmed. Fast forwaer to 2016, I moved to Australia, was living in Sydney and one day I was walking through a nice place in the city called Martin Place and it hit me! I was walking by the very same fountain where Neo saw the woman in the red dress! I felt like I was in the Matrix! I did a little digging and sure enough, that's where it was filmed!

In the original script the machines weren’t using the humans as batteries. They were using the human brains as supercomputers. So the Matrix is really all in our minds because our brains are what’s keeping the Matrix programming running.
@TimoRutanen4 ай бұрын
It makes more sense too - just burning the biomass you need to feed the human bodies would generate more power than feeding the humans and then harvesting electricity from them. I read it was changed to the battery explanation because the suits thought regular people wouldn't get the idea of a distributed computer made of millions of human brains.

The "Mr Wizard! Get me the hell out of here!" is a reference to the old cartoon "Tooter Turtle" where a hapless turtle has a wizard friend (who is a lizard) who grants him wishes (to be famous, a hero, etc) and every time he realizes it's not what he wants. He shouts out ""Help me, Mr. Wizard, I don't want to be X any more!" (where X is the thing he's been turned into) and comes back to reality, learning the lesson that it's better to just be himself. Also, the "come here" hand gesture is a reference to old Bruce Lee movies.

A far more classical example of AI compared to the beyond human intelligence often portrayed today, which has grown quite tiring.

Hugo Weaving (Mr Smith, V, Elrond) is superb in the crime drama The Interview (1998). Dark City (must be director’s cut) came out just before The Matrix, and it has some extreme similarities and extreme differences. what about smith? he was "born" in the matrix and he had the ability to change the matrix after he was reborn when neo invaded his body and destroyed him. but the code of smith remained and possibly was overwritten with some of neo's code, making smith the "ONE" not Neo. By the end of the 3rd movie, who had manipulated the matrix to be the way they wanted it to be? Smith did.

Neo wouldn't have believed the Oracle if she told him he was the One. But she told him that he has to choose between Morpheus dying and him dying, which set up the condition for him to become the one. (And she has also set up those conditions by what she told Morpheus and Trinity.) I think the key to becoming the One was also that Neo had to believe that he couldn't die in the Matrix (or that he could be revived). He had to disconnect his mind from the expectations of how things worked in the real world. If he could do that, he couldn't be killed, and once he knew that then the Agents no longer had any power over him. Agent Smith was interesting because he had human personality. No machine would really care about all the things he says to Morpheus. So it opens up the question of is Agent Smith really a program or has he become at least partially human? Notice the other Agents do not exhibit any personality.
@maelstrom23134 ай бұрын
The Oracle suggests that he wouldn't have knocked down the vase if she didn't mention it, which also implies that he wouldn't have become the One if she told him he would. It's like the opposite of a self-fulfilling prophecy, a self-defeating one. So yes, her prophecies to each one of them are set up in a way to lead them to make the right choices at key moments. Another interesting thing that I haven't seen mentioned is that the agents are actually extremely constrained in their design. They don't seem to have the full control over the Matrix that a conventional administrative program would. Instead they can only access the world using a human interface like everyone else. They are limited to using the 5 senses and human bodies to interact with the world, with no way to override that experience besides jumping from one body to another. We see this when Agent Smith has to put in his earpiece to find out about Neo and Trinity's attack. I don't know if this choice was fully intentional or just for aesthetic reasons, but it might explain why Agent Smith is overwhelmed by the sensory experience of being human that he has been forced to endure.

Neo accepted the cookie from the Oracle. What is a "Cookie" in the computer world. Also she pointed out to him that he might be waiting for " the next Life" Which is what happened when he was killed by the Agents and brought back to life, Only then did he get his true power ! One more thing that I think I'm the only one to catch it. at 50:30 he shouts " Mr. Wizard, Get me the hell out of here !" is a reference to an old cartoon called Tooter Turtle (1960-1961) where a wizard would sent a turtle back in a dream world to live another life but it never worked out well and the turtle cried out to the Wizard to be brought back !

1:00:37 Yup the oracle spells out exactly the rest of the movie and what has to happen for Neo to be the one. When he met her - he wasn’t the One. She said it was like being in love -you just know it. He knew he wasn’t. (At the end you better believe he did know) He would make a choice and either he or Morpheus would die. That happened. She said he had the gift (to be the one) but he was waiting for something - his next life. He dies, comes back and he’s the one. I do think it wasn’t fate that Neo becomes the One. I think the aOracle was like Google Maps for life. Neo you are here. You travel these roads and you end up as the One but you’re the one who has to decide to travel that road. Lastly going back to her comment about “would you still have broken it if I hadn’t said anything “. I do think Neo wouldn’t have become the One without her telling him the path he needed to travel but I think he also wouldn’t become the One without making the choice to follow the path.

There are a few ideas on why room 303 is used very often, to begin with Neo lives in 101 (and he is The One), the first time we see room 303 is with Trinity (so 3), much of the music in the movie is made with the Roland TB-303 (which is legendary in electronic music) and status code 303 is used on the web to redirect you to a different web page (and in a way people where redirected from the matrix to the real world). Then there is room 101 in the book 1984 where that room is the final step in brainwashing towards submission.

Morpheus answered this when he took Neo in the training program with the women in the read dress. Everyone who is connected to the matrix can become a agent. So they can just can just see through everyone (The bum saw them and the agent detected it.). That is also why they couldn't tell Neo the truth till after being disconnected. He would have turned into an agent.

Also, with that idea that you might be stuck in a simulation (a twist on the brain in a vat) getting popular in more recent years, this concept is more well known. When it came out though it would have been mind blowing, especially with computer graphics being nowhere near as good as it is today and without the "always online" culture we have today. It is pretty amazing they were able to come up with this regardless, but especially for how early they came up with it.
