OK. Time to rant about the trainlines. Because that nonsense about upsetting people by using words like passenger is absolute Bullshit. I got several trains last week. I travelled down south to explore the cities of Bristol, Cardiff and Bath as well as a journey to Birmingham to attend a gig. At no point was I offended at being reffered to as a Passenger. But I was very upset. Multiple times even. On my way to Bristol from Derby, I was forced to stand for 1 hour in between Derby and Birmingham, because there were more passengers than seats. I had booked a seat, but i literally couldn't get to the seat because of the amount of people stood in the corridors. I could also see someone sat in my seat. Worse yet, there was an elderly lady also having to stand, as well as one man who was stood in the toilet compartment because there was no room anywhere else. Arriving in Birmingham, the train cleared out and I was able to get to my seat, when the heat in the carriage seemed to go right up to an unbearable level. Then, as more and more people got on, the corridor filled up again, triggering my claustrophobia. Then I heard 2 announcements I never thought I'd hear. "Due to the train being busy today, First Class has been declassified. Please make your way to first class to be seated and those who paid for first class may get a partial refund." Thats bullshit. But not as bad as the second announcement. "Due to the train being busy, the snack cart is in carriage A. Please, do not attempt to reach the snack cart, unless it is safe to do so." Whats, so by their own admission, it was potentially unsafe to go to the snack cart for a drink or sandwich? WTF. How did you let this train get to such a point that it is unsafe to get a snack? At Cheltenham, a lady got on the train who told me that this happens every week because they cancelled 1 train and so they force them all on to the next. But when you have a train that has 200 seats, thats full booked, and another train that's fully booked, and then merge the two, not taking into consideration the customers using open returns, and don't add any extra carriages on. WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU THINK WOULD HAPPEN YOU USELESS ASSHOLES. That whole experience upset me far more than being called a passenger. On another train, I noticed a poster in the train entrance which spoke about how you must pack light, squeeze in and make sure everyone can get on the train. NO. PUT MORE CARRIAGES ON OR RUN MORE TRAINS YOU GREEDY MOTHERFUCKERS. It's not my responsibility to decide what I don't need to take with me or to make sure that my own personal space is reduced to make room for someone else. It's the responsibility of the train operator to run a service which is fit for purpose, meaning either adding extra carriages, making carriages which can hold more people or running more trains. But they won't do that because they can make more money. And finally, coming back to Derby from Birmingham. I was expecting to get a lift, but was unable to, so I had to get the train. I got to the station and tried to buy a ticket. £25 - £30. I said screw that, I can get it cheaper on my phone. Checked the app, and there they were for £22. And not only that, there was another train for £9. And the £22 train and the £9 train made the same journey, in the same amount of time, stopping at the same stations. But one was at 1:04 and one was at 1:09. So wait 5 minutes to get the exact same service and you can save £13, which itself was a £3 saving compared to buying the ticket at the station. Call me a passenger all you like. I don't care. I'm more concerned about this BULLSHIT PRICING. It's expensive enough getting a train. But why are there 3 different prices for 2 different journeys which vary depending on the source from which you buy a ticket and what time you get on the train. It makes no fucking sense. As a PASSENGER, I don't appreciate you overcharging me for a journey. I'm actually quite upset and insulted by your attempt to do so. In fact, thinking back on it, my Derby to Bristol train was specifically chosen because it cost me £35 for a return but had I got the exact same train, stopping at the exact same stops, taking the exact same amount of time, at any other time that day, It would have cost me £64. Why? Charge everyone £35 you fucking lunatics. I hate train travel. And it really shows just how out of touch they are when they are making people unhappy on their trains, charging them unfair, ludicrous prices and making train travel inconvenient and expecting you to adjust to their BS rules so that they can presumably make money. That's what puts people off, not being called a passenger or being as to pay a fee or whatever other bullshit they think is the problem.
