Hi Everyone, today on Brookdale Farm we are shearing some sheep and thought you might like to see our 1946 Coopers TB 2 stand shearing plant in action. Not a lot has really changed in the last 150 years of powered shearing but here is a look at how it was done in the 1940s.

Very enjoyable, Geoffrey. I learnt to shear on one of them in the mid-1970s in Western Australia.

That's cool to see. I've heard a lot of stories from fellas searing all day with the hit-miss two stand plant. Good to actually see it. Thanks for "shearing" that 😁

That was fantastic. Thanks for taking the time to set it all up for us. Arnie is a great sport indeed.

We used a similar model in the States until 1970. We powered it with a electric motor. Keep in mind we only kept a flock of 10 eyes, and the ram. Dad had kept more before i was old enough to help. Thank you.

The shearing plants I remember from my childhood (1980s) were the same hand-piece mechanism with an electric motor (I think) at the top. It boggles the mind that after all this time there's still no "better" way to do this. You'd have thought with all the advantages in battery, etc tech that there'd be a cordless hand-piece or similar by now.
