It’s called a bean, which is dirt, grim, smegma and urine basically that has been there long enough to harden. There are actually people who go around doing this type cleaning for people. Although this is very necessary, there are some people who don’t like doing it.

There's also things called soap and water. Sheath cleaning may seem gross, but it's not dangerous without gloves unless the cleaner has long fingernails, cuts on their hands or the horse has an infection. Anything else is just natural bodily fluids and cleaning fluids that can easily be washed away. Gloves aren't always necessary. If someone isn't endangering themselves or the animal by not using gloves, why make extra trash?

@@RachaelClag well I know that. What I didn't know is Stallions don't generally have this problem because they self clean during sex. (Poor mares). I would still have to wear gloves a d it does seem like with a 60cc syringe you could blast a lot of that out.
