When I see a new shot or concept my favorite way to practice is to drill that shot with a partner, helps me get a ton of reps in and build some muscle memory

After wasting hundreds of hours watching crappy useless KZbin content on Pickleball, this was PURE GOLD. I am a 4.5 trying to get better and the tip on hitting your third shot drops to the middle of the court was immediately fruitful when I implemented it. Thanks, Shea, looking forward to getting better with your tutorials.

Been waiting to play pickleball or the first time. Watching a lot of PBTV and Finally got to get out there on Tuesday. A few players that had been playing for a while helped a lot and said stick with it you've got it down. Alot of fun! can't wait for more. Thank you for the Vid!

A word of advice from someone who has played for almost 20 years. Plus I teach beginners @ the local YMCA over a period of 4 weeks. Go take some lessons! Often those “friends who play” haven’t learned properly, aren’t up on the rules, and may have developed some bad habits themselves…which they’ll pass on to you. I see it here in my area frequently, especially among those who have taken a 1 hr. Intro to PB class then been turned loose to play.

Wonderfully informative video! I really like that you cut the crap and got straight to what we need to know. Side note, on tip one, when you demonstrated how to run around a forehand return, your right foot was crossing in front of the left foot which is less efficient than if your right foot went behind your left. If you think about it, crossing your right foot in front of your left foot makes it more difficult to have your body/shoulders in the correct position to strike the ball. Whereas dropping your right foot behind your left, opens the hips and shoulders to rotate your body through the ball.
@us_tennis_parents_academy
@us_tennis_parents_academy 4 ай бұрын
I noticed that too. In tennis, we call that the "drop step" and puts you quickly into a more aggressive position (hips and shoulder turn) to rip back the forehand. 🙂

I've never heard the term shot peaking but have seen the concept before. Makes sense but is very foreign when starting out - I remember these shots not feeling right and thinking that I was giving them a pop up. Then one of my first drops confused someone newer and I knew then it was right. I also love the alternating dink types. I do what I call a two/one. two dinks to you and if you handle them, my next goes to the other player. You've given very dense helpful advice here - much thanks.

11:20 This has been great, but this tip runs counter to other professional advice. When facing a down-the-line threat from out wide, you can camp on that, because an advanced partner will cover right up to your shoulder on the other side. That's what I've been told from several different channels. In my own play, I've recently begun stepping back off the line by half a step far more often, and it's a big help in many situations.

@sheaunderwood
@sheaunderwood 4 ай бұрын
Maybe not if it’s facing directly towards the sky like this | but if it’s open like this / then of course you can. It’s the only way to generate top-spin. If your paddle face is closed like this \, you will hit the ball in the ground. It’s different than tennis in that way.
