if you have interest in learning Bahasa like them, learn the pronounciation of the alphabet in Indonesian, because we dont have multiple pronounciation for one letter except maybe for some of it like "E". if you learn by read the words, you still have that english alphabet pronounciation and when you say the words, it wont be perfect and you can misunderstood by locals

Yes, I really enjoyed watching the way The Lost Boys treat the locals with respect and humility. And they speak Bahasa Indonesia pretty good it seems. I like when he said "We are your friends not your guests." That is how I feel. that is why I say "My friends in Indonesia" Or "My friends in the UK" I feel like I am the same as everyone else.
