T -shirts are one of the most universal and favorite types of clothes. Almost everyone has them, and, as a rule, not one, but several at once. Over time, some of them lose their relevance: they go out of fashion, become small or just wear out. But instead of sending such things to a landfill, you can give them a second life. I decided to collect all my old T -shirts and turn them into a cozy and stylish rug, which will not only decorate the house, but will also become a reminder of a creative approach to ordinary things.
I took those that I no longer wear, but their fabric remained quite strong. Basically, the msny has white and black. To make a rug out of them, I first cut them into strips about 2 centimeters wide. It is important that the strips are the same in width - then the rug will turn out even and neat. The fabric can be cut both along and across.
Then she pulled the strips into the tubes. To do it is simple - it is enough to pull the edges slightly, and the knitwear itself will turn inside. It turns out dense laces that can already be used for work. I cut them into pieces, with a length of 6 centimeters - this will be the main material for the rug.
Any fabric is suitable for the base, I have a piece from a bike blanket. It turned out to be perfect - dense, but not too thick, and holds its shape well. Then she drawn it on the strips after 2 centimeters. This is necessary in order to stimulate our knitted pieces evenly.
How to sew strips.
She laid out a small group of blanks along the lines, connecting to each other and attached it on a typewriter. The pieces walked in rows. Gradually, a beautiful texture surface appeared on the blanket.
As a result, I got a soft striped rug.
I didn’t even have to cut it. The pile of the tubes turned out to be dense and does not crush.
Now, looking at this rug, I enjoy what I could give unnecessary things a second life.
There are still many other ideas ahead of how to use old T-shirts and make something beautiful and useful out of them.
All the best to you!
