It's a passion for sure! I took up shed hunting last year, and I've found a few myself, as well as a few deadheads. I've found sheds 20 miles apart that you can tell have a genetic match based on the antler shape and color. I bow-hunt an Urban/Surburban Creek/Wood line that meanders for miles through several small parks and golf courses, so I know the deer migrate all up and down it, getting from one place to another. My BEST finds are from Feb 2023 and Feb 2024... I found the complete set of the same deer. In 2023 he was a split brow 9 then, and in 2024, he was a full 10 (have some great pics of him)! As a two-year-old in 2023, his sheds measured: Right, 56 7/8; Left, 58 2/8. His spread based on trail cam pictures is right at 18 inches (133 1/8 gross). As a three-year-old in 2024, his sheds measured: Right, 58.0; Left, 60.0. His spread based on trail cam pictures was right at 20 inches (138.0 gross). Not bad for a mid-city deer.

@@behindtheblindtv: Thanks... Now, if I can only get him in bow range this coming September when the season opens back up here in Kentucky. I'd be "STOKED" to take him, and then mount him and his sheds (Mountain Mikes Replica Deer Skulls), from the previous two seasons, would be an AWSOME History Story with him! BTW, Congrats on the finds you two are having... You're getting a nice collection!

Awesome to see the genetics. I've heard it is tipically not father/son descendants and it is usually the does' genetics that carry on. Bunch of half brothers running around.

Yes it is! Genetics are 50/50, but there has been studies done on antler heritability and it’s not as much as we think! Only around 35% of antler traits are inherited!

@@jasonnester9514 we understand it can be frustrating, but we also are thankful that more and more people are trying to spend their time outdoors instead of inside! If others want to get out and find sheds, that’s good in our book!👊
