It is a master piece, but more importantly it is driven as it should be, no trailer Queen this beast.

We could say..."one thing I remember about Goodwood, it were always rainin'!". Wonderful stuff Ivan, always great to spend time with the "Shed Racing" crew. Tom, I used to warm my hands on the exhaust of my motor bike, get some electric heated gloves 👍.

On your latest video, you show the 54mm Miller carburettor that came with the car. It will give 33% more inlet area than the two 33mm carburettors on the car now.

In absolute agreement with Ivan about Oulton Park circuit - 2.72 miles I seem to recall. I marshalled there in the late sixties to early seventies. Witnessing probably Ivan but also Jim Clark three wheeling a Lotus Cortina through Knicker Brook. Great video.

I saw you out testing the Hall & Scott last Tuesday driving towards Worminghall. It looked and sounded great. If it gets much wetter around Ickford and Shabbington perhaps you should look into amphibious vehicles. It’s a bugger on a bike.

If I was you, I would do what a 'Garragista' would have done back in the 50s like Vanwall or ERA and up the compression to 8:1 by milling the heads or cylinder block, and box the sides of those conrods in (I saw that Ed Pink did that do the actual Peugeot Twincam engine that you modelled that special on btw) and I bet that heads could benefit from some porting for better gasflow. Sometimes just generally blueprinting an engine can make it come alive
@lancerbiker52639 ай бұрын
It's hard not to like that Tom guy. (Heated motorcycle gloves?) I can relate to him preferring the wet as is much more fun. Clutch seems to be working a treat. Too bad tires selection is minimal, but is same for all I'm sure. I have an ongoing issue with my wife when I want to keep things I think will prove useful sometime. (Hoarder?) I envy the young guy/s that hang around your shop. Can't wait for the race. No onboard cameras I believe. Perhaps "the girls" can be posted around the track for phone recordings...😉

Reading about octane rating at WWI I note it was rated at 42 octane. In WWII it was octane 72 and 68 for lorries but 100 for aircraft. Today, E 10 is 95 and E 5 is 97.
@CarClassicTV9 ай бұрын
Yes it doesn’t come out in the video but I was asking him for the cheapest 💩 he had and 102 octane is the lowest on offer at Goodwood

Does the car have a timing adjustment control inside the cockpit? Would the ability to tweak the timing on the go, be of any benefit? I hope the new rear view mirror doesn't block my front row seat vantage point. 🙂 Absolutely great videos.
@gazzafloss9 ай бұрын
I think it does have ignition timing adjust, being ex aero engine running magneto ignition.

Buy Tom some heated gloves, when your concentration on cold hands it's not fully on driving, a little bit of comfort goes a long way.
@johnrebus16419 ай бұрын
So A "Hard Plug" plug is a colder one like NGK 7 or 8 & a "Soft Plug" is hotter one like 5 or 6. Is this correct. Makes nearly as much sense as Nearside & Offside !
