Genius idea!!!! I think when you are ready to install the permanent, choosing a darker color will really make your kitchen pop! Its gorgeous now already! Great job!

We did this in our kitchen during our remodel, it worked great, except the ink started to come off the paper when I would wipe them off. lol We did get some small holes too. Then last summer the quartz counter tops were installed and we LOVE them!!! That was an exciting day and they are gorgeous! We are almost done with our kitchen, a lot of small things need to be completed, we are getting there. It's been a year and a half we've been working on it. We've done everything ourselves and buying second hand to save money so we could splurge on a couple things, quartz counter tops and farmhouse sink, those are two things I had been dreaming about for a long time! Can't wait to see what you pick for your kitchen!!

White counter are the best so you can see the dirt and dust. That’s my choice. Love your cabinets

Good morning from just wanted to say when I was in your position and and remodeling my kitchen I knew what I wanted but couldn't afford it right then so I put plywood down and I painted it with a high enamel paint and it lasted me as long as I needed it to until I could afford to do the countertops that I wanted.

Good to see a new video ! I just had the marble countertops installed and I love them! Easy to clean and brightens up my galley kitchen. You did a great job putting it on !! Good things come to those who wait..anxious to see what your kitchen ceiling will be. Reese is getting so big! I laughed while you were trying to open the box! My dogs always expected a new toy everytime I went shopping. Take care!

I would go with a darker countertop to bring some color to the kitchen.

That looks great. I think a counter top looking like the paper will look great in your kitchen! I have a peninsula in my kitchen that I tried and tried to get a counter top put on and no one would return my calls. So we have been putting contact paper on it for years now. We had to piece it together because the peninsula is double the width of the paper. Seeing the seem is hardly noticeable. On our 3rd layer now and it looks great and works. Easy to clean as well. Some day I will get new counters and I’ll get the entire kitchen done when I do it. Take care! 😊❤️

Love that! It really makes the wait easier, I can at least clean my counters now 🙂

You should have just painted with high gloss paint. I love the look of what you did, but I don’t think it’s going to last very long. Good luck with the build.

I was afraid I would paint it, make a mess, and it would end up looking terrible lol I went the cheap route, but so far it's holding up. Thanks for watching!

Wow! I wouldn't have thought of the contact paper but that is a great temporary solution. Plus it gives you a good preview of the marble.

Why not consider installing butcher block countertops? Much less expensive than granite, quartz or other stone countertops and they would look lovely with your farmhouse style. I love to watch your channel. First time posting. Keep your chin up. Time will pass and things will get finished. Enjoy your lovely family. They are truly all you need.
@a.shed.instead7 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! I will consider it, as much as I like granite, cost may be prohibitive for the long term, the way things are going. 🥴

Using a hair dryer or heat gun to get the edges softer might have got it to stick . Looks good though. I ordered some to try on mine to see what I want for my new counters.

I love the white and grey marble look. You're not getting the full effect of how it will look with your cabinets because of the raw edge and thickness of the plywood. You could also get some contrast when you paint your shiplap and drywall. If stone countertops is what you really want, I would choose granite over marble. White marble is harder to care for than granite and tends to stain very easily. Honestly, I don't know if I would buy a light granite if I had it all to do over again. The stone is definitely harder to take care of and stains so easily with things like oil, coffee, etc. You have time to look at your options. Everything is looking wonderful.

Thanks for the input, Kim! I've heard that about marble, which makes me tend to lean toward granite or quartz. And yes, I'm trying to use this time to investigate all options and make the best choice. Thanks for watching! ❤️

I did same thing when I remodeled my kitchen, used contact paper from Dollar Tree. Worked for a year and a half until I got my permanent countertop. Used black with white marble on white cabinets, looked awesome, unless right on them, you couldn’t even tell not real marble. Used MDF board for base, paper stuck well on and stuck to all surfaces.

That's awesome! I hope mine will last on plywood til I can get real counters LOL

Break out the glue 😊 hi Rhonda good to see you. Reese has really gotten big He.looks about the size of my rescue Honey and she's 4.But she's heavy. That's gonna work for a bit ,but I would still.put some glue on the wood. How does it feel to live there now. ? Is it quite? Well tell him Happy Belated Birthday 🎉for me. And thanks to the power's that be ,all major stuff has been done. Like power water,and sceptic. I think it looks pretty good. I love your house. Looking forward to your next video. And Don't sell yourself short.

I would prefer a darker counter for the contrast; however, many people like the monotone look of all the light colors. As long as you use color in your kitchen decor, the monotone look is fine. Best wishes on your decision and on being able to save the money to get the countertop of your dreams.

I have never been a big fan of black countertops; but honestly think that's exactly what you should get. Black or a dark gray would give you a contrast I think you need. White or white marble will just wash out; or at least that's what it's doing on camera.
@a.shed.instead7 ай бұрын
I've been worried about that!

I put black quartz in my kitchen. White cabinets, white backsplash with very dark gray grout and flat black hardware. I love it.

@@karensandberg6226 It actually sounds beautiful. Sometimes contrast is needed!

Too much white, you need something that will brighten up the area, Grey with tones or black with white streaks, etc instead

Think dark gray with white marbling would show your counters better. If anyone reading this does not know Jesus as their Saviour, please call on him and ask him to forgive your sins and save you. Then follow his teachings and obey him. Jesus loves you and wants you t be a part of God's family. Heaven with Jesus or Hell with the devil. Your choice. Please choose Jesus.
