May mga sheep po ako sa ngayon pero pet ko lang po sila.Super nakakainlove ang karnero kasi para rin silang aso kapag natrain po sila.i have 4 dalawang babae at dalawang lalaki.Ako po nagpadede sa kanila mula pa nong bata sila kz namatay yung mother nila pagkapanganak.Ngayon sobrang laki na nila 11months na at nakakatuwa kz napakalambing po nila sa akin.

Start off with 5 Ewes and 1 Ram, mated at staggered date so the sheepherder will not get overwhelmed with too many lambs at one time.Sheep milk is twice as rich as goat's milk, three times richer than cow's milk. At par or better than Carabao's milk. That will make a real good Kesong Puti. In the Navajo reservation where I stayed 6 years. Sheeps are low tech, easy care culture. Goats are more choosy on feeds, Sheep will mow the grass. Don't forget the salt, minerals and water. Good luck!

Ewe to ram ratio on our farm was 30:1. 5:1 is wasteful. Sheep meat is better than goat and sheep are more feed efficient than cattle or goats. They are easier on fences than goats, but they still require good fences. Be careful not to market old sheep as their taste can be strong and will turn people away from lamb. Slaughter is best at about 45 kilos.

Very informative. But one factor that I am surprised most is the housing. The housing is very expensive than may be the total cost (Value) of the herd. I saw big farms in the ME before and I haven’t seen of such a huge expensive housing structure, except the ( Al Marai Dairy in Riyadh) much more the quality of material used. If you do your math how long would you recover your investment? I haven’t been to Australia or New Zealand but I believed they do not construct big housing for millions of sheep specially in New Zealand. Here in the US I saw a few herds of sheep in my state and the animal is not kept in concrete structure. Don’t get me wrong I know farmers who sold there farms in Luzon and also in Mindanao and you know why (?) they used most of the capital on unnecessary structures I.e. buildings, and they ran out of operating expenses. I feel sorry for them. They could have succeed had they got the right advice. There’s a better way to make your livestock farming more economical and profitable. Do your research first from housing to nutrition.

Among the Navajo sheep herders in Northern Arizona, they mix goats and sheep in the herd. 1 goat to every 15-20 sheep. They say sheep are so stupid that they don't raise their heads when grazing. The goats are smarter They raise their heads and look around every few seconds or so.They make a racket, stomp their feet when they see a coyote or wolf. I miss the wide open spaces. I always wanted to be a Cowboy or a sheepman in the Philippines, left as a youngman now 80. Good luck !

@@Lumpia.18 Handel (HAN.DL) naman talaga ang bigkas, hindi handul. Sang ka nakarinig na native english speaker (American, British etc) na nagbigkas na hanDUL (as in HAN.DOOL)? LOL Maraming vowel sounds sa English, mapa-American, British, Australian etc man yan. Hindi yan katulad satin na a, e, i, o at u lang. Pagpilitan mo pa pronunciation ng mga bisaya. Lol Sakit ng mga bisaya sa pagpronounce.... lol
