Yep a UK vet told us that years ago that you might aswell not dose with a mineral drench if treating for Fluke or Worms as the absorption rate is so because the sheep can as you said become loose they suggest keeping the treatments afew days apart using the wormer or fluke first !
@sheepdogman1 Жыл бұрын
On my mineral drench it says if dosing when worming dose mineral drench 1st. Who knows whats best ?

Great to see the boys making themselves useful, it certainly made your job easier. Perhaps they advise against dosing the cobalt separately as the wormer may inhibit the uptake, but that is just a guess.

Hypothetically, if you inherited someone else's working dog, would you be able to use that dog? Would you have to retrain it?
@sheepschool365 Жыл бұрын
I inherited a really old dog called Floss that was so old she was starting to lose her teeth.. After about 1 month of feeding and looking after her I was her new master and she happily worked for me for about 2 years until unfortunately she became too old! She was a lovely dog that definitely helped me train my current dog, Pops...

Finding your content most informative. I did a course on disease in sheep. Egg fecal count works best if poop sample taken directly from "source". Not from ground as at that stage eggs already hatched. Would be interested to get your input on this as well please
@sheepschool365 Жыл бұрын
Think it needs to be pretty fresh to be accurate so I walk around after sheep usually in shed and gather sample soon as it hits the ground..

What's the best dose for fluke and worms
@sheepschool365 Жыл бұрын
It's hard to says which is best but I think the best practice is to alternate between the different types of wormers and flukicides. Using the same product consecutively leads to resistance fairly quickly. Might mention it in a video soon...

Very good 👍 great lads to help Good to learn about drench and mineral, not sure if its a waste or not , i found lambs ear to clean off after double dosing . Along with the race, do you have a turnover crate ? Or do you find the need for one ?
@sheepschool365 Жыл бұрын
I also found my ewe lamb's scabby ears definitely cleared up after double dosing. I would guess better in the lambs than sitting in the bottle. No turnover crate as I never pare feet. Thankfully don't have foot problems, one major benefit to Lleyn sheep..

Is it only when you are fluke dosing that you don’t mineral dose or dose that mean worm dosing as well. Another great video. Thank you

Hello, I've got the same dose off the vet after a positive rumen egg count. My vet just said 4.5ml per 10kg. Never mentioned 20ml max. It would be 24+ ml if I went on body weight. Seems a lot. Did your vet say 20ml max dosage?
@sheepschool365 Жыл бұрын
Zanil states 20ml maximum for 45kg and over but yet Levafas Diamond containing almost twice the Oxyclozanide is recommended at 2.5ml per 10kg with no maximum weight.

Ya should have dosed the 3 lambs as well ;) Kids make it fun on the farm don't they the neighbour brought over her grandchildren to feed the chickens today I let them get an egg each from the nests for their lunch, I am told all eggs got home unbroken :) Funny because their gran gets all her eggs from me so they have eaten them all their lives but special I guess to get your own egg warm from the chicken.
