I left school this day in 2003 what a match although it broke my heart as a Forest fan . This defeat set us back severely only 19 years later when we finally buried the ghost on penalties v Sheffield Utd we finally went up. I can remember everything of May 15th 2003 to this day.

The nerves that night...I couldn't go for a drink before the game as I was working. I got into the ground as the players came out. Stood next to my mate and we both looked at each other and took a deep breath. We went to Forest away and were nowhere near as nervous. By the end of the game, when Walker put through his own goal I was going berserk! The emotions that night were incredible!! *edit*...when Kabba scored I had a quite serious fall. Bumped into him in HMV some months later and told him about it. He laughed and apologised lol! Top lad.

No question this was & remains THE best game I have ever seen at the Lane in over forty years going to the shrine. The high was hyperdermic. During extra time "glory glory Sheff United" thundered across three sides of Beautiful Downtown Bramall Lane & the my entire body went to goosebumps. Up the Blades! (least said about the final the better)

It was a crazy game and says something when Forest and Blades fans still reference it as part of their rivalry almost 20 years later. A game full of twist, turns and emotions. All this time later and we’re still bottling games 🤦🏻♂️ at least you guys look strong in the Prem currently!

How many strikers did Sheff United have that season? Kabba, Asaba, Ndlovu, Windass, Peschisolido, Allison... you’re lucky to have 3 decent forwards in your squad these days.

Great day out and game this. Real shame we lost but such fond memories of that season. Bloody SYP copper taking the piss on the way back to the train station always sticks in my mind - "you know Forest lose don't you".. erm yeah!

Remember watching this live in the student union when Forest were 2-0 up I thought yes we have a real chance here! Then came back from the loo and it all was going pear shaped.. deflection and own goal it wasn't our day then. Who knows what could have happened if we got in the final and think we would have won it.

+Keith Mass same, we had a really good team then. Losing Dawson for this match was a real shitter because we had to replace him with Thompson :/ That was the problem with this team, great first XI but no depth. Look at the bench we had for this game, other than Lester it is awful. 13 year old me was heartbroken after this game lol.

Scimeca & Brennan cost us this match, when Reid scored I almost cried along with the other 6'000 proper supporters at the match.
