Heart and grit is an intangible that is worth more than pure talent. It's just very hard to see in an NFL that is made with immediate gratification picks. Tom Brady is the ultimate example of being passed over and becoming great. Hell, Kupp is another example of a great player that wasn't projected to do well. So props to the Rams for finding intangibles.

It's pretty simple for me. Chargers spent a 1 round pick on a man because of his athleticism, even he can't catch the ball. Rams spent a 5 round pick on a man because of his hability in catching. NFL evaluation process is flawed. They place a premium on athleticism rather relying on film and placing a premium on just being a football player. Scouts probably thought he was the wrong color as well. It will get better over time.

Pass catchers have historically existed in all hues, i.e. Welker, Kupp, Hines Ward, TJ Houshmandzadeh, Tim Dwight, Calvin Johnson, etc etc. There are hundreds of examples of all "colors" playing WR. Plus, Nacua is Samoan and, in case you're not familiar with Samoans, they're brown people (which, by the tone of your comment, I believe you were implying that he was not "brown" or "black" hence not considered a strong WR candidate.)
