Please stay away from ahadith until you understand history. Most of hadith circulating around in books and through KZbin videos were invented and fabricated after the death of the prophet by a group of people who used the death of the prophet as a golden occasion to grab the power and distort religion so it would serve their goals and reinforce their position. I have been a student of yours since I was 16 years of age. I am now 30 in a few months (by the sun) and I have been watching the world transform based on your insight. I have listened to most of your lectures and read all of your books. I recently had a dream about you as well which has motivated me to double down in my quest for knowledge. I am posting because I've been thinking about how the journey of Musa (AS) and Khidr and how this is linked to the sun rising from the west - more specifically within the realm of symbolism. I strongly agree with the position that the sun will not "literally" rise from the west - although we could be incorrect, as we have been in the past - Allah knows best. Regardless, here are my recent thoughts on the subject. Traditionally, consciousness has been symbolized by the sun. When the light of consciousness shines on the external events of the world as they appear within the mind's eye (left eye). That is on the contents of consciousness, then we may see the true nature of our emotions and associated thoughts. Through this state of pure observation, we may be able to act according to higher reason, according to principles, we may act consciously. It thus represents the awakening of our deeper capacity for discernment. Traditionally, the capacity for discernment was a sign of knowledge and wisdom precisely because it represented consciousness. Those who lack discernment are in a state of unconsciousness, and thus, lack the level of self-awareness that is otherwise required to understand the true nature of our preferences, our inclinations, our desires, our thoughts, and our feelings. Lacking understanding of their true nature, we only end up self-identifying with them, and thus, act according to them, whether through avoidance or affirmation. This represents the lack of self-awareness and the inability for self-scrutiny, and it is why ignorance is always characterized by projection and the externalization of one's own toxic emotions and behaviours onto others in the form of blame, criticism, judgement, etc. The sun normally rises from the east. A rising from the west is symbolic of an "inversion" of what is mentioned above. This represents the opposite of reason and sound judgement. Unconsciousness is thus symbolized by darkness because we cannot see what is in the darkness just as we cannot see what is happening within us. On a side note: When Musa (AS) and his fataah (Yusha ibn noon) aka Joshua were travelling - they had a fish with them which I am sure you are familiar with. Not only was the fish their intended meal, but I believe it to be symbolic as well. Fish are commonly associated with the water element, which signifies stability, balance, and tranquillity. The strong connection to the water element then gives it similar connotations of duality. If water obscures a lot of hard decisions in life, it acts as a guide familiar with the world of the unknown. Fish can also be symbolic of the faithful submerged in the waters of life. Yet are also cold-blooded, not driven by passion, and often such emotionless entities. The way in which the fish escaped was also mentioned. It left a wake in its trail and the wake persisted. This was mentioned on purpose by Allah, and for good reason. We just don't know that reason quite yet. Some food for thought. Forgive the pun.

I'm not sure I understand. If the sun rising from the west is one of the major signs, after which repentance will not be accepted. And the sun rising from the west is not to be taken literally, then how is it to be taken? If the interpretation is that it occurs due to the prevalent use of the gregorian solar calendar, doesn't that mean the major sign has already happened? and that the gates of repentance are closed?

Sheikh Imran Hussein is a great teacher and you can feel he has a good heart. He is also looking for a good relationship between Islam and Christianity. I read his book "prohibition of riba in quran" and it was great. Christianity once condemned usury and interest rates on capital, but then satan deceived Christian "leaders". We must go back to honest money (gold, silver, maybe oil, wheat). Paper money is fraud and more and more people realize that. We can all learn alot about not just life, but of the Quran and its true interpretations from Sheikh Imran Hosein. I have definitely been listening to his lectures for nearly 7 years now and everything he says makes total sense in my mind. Especially on how evil interest or riba is and how unfair it always is where the rich get richer and the poor remain poor, because of this it is difficult for wealth to be distributed evenly throughout the masses. May Allah swt bless you Sheikh and may these next generations all learn from your scholarship.

It's more about learning the fact that god exists, that there is only one god that exists and religion comes after the realization that god exists, from a structural point of view, islam is basically the most up to date manual on how not to mess up your life and how to earn good things for yourself.

Here is my theory about the sun rising from the west, and Allah knows the best. Ibrahim had a discussion with a king called nemrud who claimed to be a god, he wanted to convince people that he is. So there is a king who wants to convince people that he is a god. Ibrahim told him that Allah brings people back to life and cause death, so nemrud failed to do it but Ibrahim said okay we can pass this one. Then Ibrahim said my lord brings the sun from the east, bring it from the west. So for a king to convince people that he is a god, he must be able to bring back death and cause death, and he must be able to bring the sun from the west. We all know who is this king that is going to claim he is a god in akhiru azzaman. And we all know that this king has been giving the ability and by the help of jins to make people think that he resurected the deaths. The same king will use the same magic and technologie to make people think that there is a sun rising from the west.

I enjoyed listening to the lecture, it definitely made me think. I wanted to provide my thoughts about the concept of the sun rising from the west. It is mentioned that repentance won't be accepted once this occurs, which leads me to believe it would be a physical event and not a metaphorical one. It would need to be something largely seen as a major event, to be classified among them. To my knowledge the pagans have been using solar based calendars for possibly thousands of years. So for the solar calendar to become popularized and spread throughout the world, that would be called a spreading of pagan ideologies, and may or may not represent the sun rising from the west. It either means when people accept a solar calendar that their repentance is not accepted, or there is still a real major event to occur. And the globalization of the solar calendar is a matter of misguidance (away from the lunar calendar), and not a major event. These are matters for thinking, Allah knows best what the actual truth is. In the Surah where Ibrahim (aleyhi salaam) is talking to that king: Have you not considered the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord [merely] because Allah had given him kingship? When Abraham said, "My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death," he said, "I give life and cause death." Abraham said, "Indeed, Allah brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west." So the disbeliever was overwhelmed [by astonishment], and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. Surah Al-Baqarah 2:258 Whenever I read this I think about how Allah has all the Power, and it is within Allah's Power to cause the sun to rise from the west if He wills. I interpret that this Ayah is telling me that Allah is the One Who causes it to rise from the east, and if He willed, could cause the sun to rise from the west. Perhaps this Ayah was hinting at this major sign in the future, where Allah could cause the sun to rise from the west if He wills. I didn't get the idea that this Ayah meant that the sun cannot rise from the west and only rises from the east. Rather, that king being spoken with had no real power to do such a thing, and so it was brought to his attention to prove he was arrogant and deluded. So to me it seemed like a hint about a future occurrence which only Allah can cause, the sun rising from the west. I just want to provide my opinion so we can all think about the possibilities. I respect Shiekh Imran very much and I love him for the sake of Allah. I'm not having a boxing match haha.

I also think it would be a physical event and not metaphorical because even scientists say that earth is spinning slower and slower as if it’s like a spring and eventually they say it will begin to rotate the opposite way, than you will see the sun rise from the west

This is one of the most shocking lecture of shiekh, I guess if TIME is one of the emphasis to 10 signs of qiyamah, then our assignment must be done proper. Time moving faster...? The Quran, the moon and methodology for recitation. May Allah see us through. Ameen

I found that when im studying scripture that time slows down. Also when casting off sins. It is a battle and time slows during the fight. Just try breaking a sinful behavior and count how many days you can go without committing the sin. Time will slow way down. Each day will feel like a eternity.
