In the past i was in a abusive relationship from 17-19 years. At 19 i finally chose for myself and broke free. When i was 20, i first heard Prince' music. I truly felt liberated from the pain left from the relationship. I'd also like to thank Sheilae e, for her wonderful music. She is a strong woman and i am truly grateful for the music she makes. Sheila is a legend & as far as I'm concerned she is and will remain the greatest female percussionist of my lifetime. I don't remember how.... but years & years ago I started a Lionel Richie fan club and at one point told him she was going to break off on her own because of her talent. Watching her banging on those congas is life-changing... then the lights go out, she grabs something and ALL YOU SEE ARE THOSE STICKS GLOWING AND FLYING and YOUR HEART Races. For more than 30 years I have followed her and god I can't speak enough about how wonderful, personable, and sincerely genuine she is. I sat next to her on the bench in LB at a celebrity basketball game and she was just so cool, and she is little too. And Prince I can not talk about because there is too much i need to say. we did not deserve his genius. He was a GIFT that wasn't cherished

Sheila E. is so intelligent and wise and grounded. Look for a new wave of appreciation for her. She's always been a star, and here she shines with potential. She'd be great in a movie, and I can't help thinking a collaboration with Rita Coolidge would be amazing!!!

The song is really sweet & goes back to when they were both just kids. A love like that (even a friendship) only comes along once in a lifetime. Even though now there's pain since He's gone, the ride was phenomenal & worth it. The song means a lot even to me because I was a kid when I first saw/heard him in '77 (not '78) playing/writing/singing on his cousins album (Minneapolis Genius) j& I have the album. Seeing him on the cover of For You......then Prince & the first time on American Bandstand, I was in Love? as a kid (not even a teenager). In concert years later when he said "I Love You too Baby" (He actually heard me I was so close & the arena was quiet during the intro to Purple Rain). He captured my heart for Always! PRINCELUV4EVER!!!

Sheila E.... A master musician, artist, and teacher. What advice would give someone who wants to enter the music business ...her answer, don't! Often the public doesn't consider the open generosity required for artists. It takes a huge amount of energy, spiritual grounding, and endurance to be authentic in giving. The drummer must be attentive, listening, and responsive to others or they are playing only for themselves. Master artist and teacher. Inspiration for all people called to create art.

Apparently, Prince stopped talking to Sheila and they had not spoken for over 2 years after she was asked not to mention their relationship in her book. She is also fibbing here, as she says something very different in her book about when their relationship ended, it was due to not only changes within the band but he going off with women behind her back. Prince was never loyal to one woman, he was a player..
