SHEIN ADVENT CALENDAR!? Negative Value!? WHY DO I LIKE IT!? | Sheglam Advent Unboxing

Hey guys! I am going to start out by saying I think this advent calendar and Sheglam as a whole might need a follow up video with more of my thoughts actually outlined and perhaps an investigation😂 I think the reason I liked this one more than the kylie advent calendar, even though the value was less, was because the overall experience was better: The packaging was well thought out, cute, quality, and could be used as decor - The products were interesting and unique - There were extra items that matched the theme. The value is non existent as far as things that can actually be purchased on the website, but I found value in other areas with this one! HOWEVER, I know almost nothing about sheglam, but I am leery of their parent company SHEIN. I would love to look more into the sheglam products and practices to see if its a company or calendar that I can recommend.

I remember a makeup artist on KZbin talking about the setting powder. It sounded great, but I didn’t know that Sheglam was the same company as Shein. I don’t know about putting any of their products on my face, and I like cheap makeup. 😂

A lot of the luxury brands rely solely on their name to excite you, while some of the cheaper or less known brand calendars lean into a theme and put thought into the actual experience of opening the advent calendar, and the value in that should not be underestimated. A calendar that is FUN to open gives you good memories of it. A calendar that has a bunch of products that say "Gucci" or whatever is more about bragging rights. Not that famous brands can't make it an experience (she called out Sephora), they just typically don't.

Even if the value is objectively bad, the "yippee! Little treats!" Factor is way more important imo. Even if it's not full of practical, everyday cosmetics it feels cohesive and rewarding to open each day. That's way more than luxury brands give you, and watching you be excited to open each day was a rare treat :)

That little notebook looks like it's discbound. I really like that format. Removable pages* like a ringbinder, but can be folded in half like a spiral bound. *If you're unfamiliar, pull from the top, towards you, not sideways. Putting them back is just line up the notch and apply light pressure.

even if the factory is the same, keep in mind they dont have to follow the same regulations in regards to the content inside of their make up as a western brand would. shein is still another drop-ship company like wish and temu and just because they put their stuff in cute packaging doesnt mean its actually safe for consumption. take care of your skin, infections can really mess you up.

Hey Alexandria - you give such a fun and informative review! I feel like the Sheglam is kind of more honest - not fantasy values appealing to girl math. Considering the low everyday prices, there's no room to cut more. So, they basically sold it for the value of the products, but gave the advent unboxing experience, a few extras, easy perforations (while not skimping on protecting the products), and really fun packaging.. For less than $8 a day, it seemed like really fun new things of substance to play with each day. Fun to give someone on Christmas, and they can look over the story cards of the 5 years of SHeglam, open the secret drawer, and have a fun product to open on the 12 days up to Jan 6 (3 King's Day) - the 12 Days of Christmas, rather than the month of Advent.

Compared to Sephora, I'd say this calendar is far superior in variety and fun packaging. Are the products safe to use - that's a whole other topic to consider. But that Polaroid style camera case packaging is a blast from the past!

I think the experience outweigh the monetary value especially because you have a decor piece and, like, at least 2 exclusives (the notebook and tag). Everything was full sized too!!! I hope we get a compilation of the bonus calender at the end of this. Besides the yearly advent calendars, that just brightens the whole day!

I think that's actually a decent price when you include the packaging and the experience. I'm still too afraid to try Shein make up though.

I recommend it a lot , not just because i tried it (which i did and omg best liquid liner ever) but if u search more about the brand sheglam it is in fact a different factory, and cruelty free!!!! The products are amazing tbh, is like buying into an asian brand (which are getting quite popular)😅 I generally feel there is a lot of missconceptions about this brand

I’ve used it a lot, even one of their primers and it’s really good quality and has a lot of amazing dupes for great prices. And I’ve never gotten a rash or anything like that.
