Sheku Kanneh-Mason, the record-breaking 19 year-old British cellist who became a viral sensation after being personally invited by the Duchess of Sussex to perform at Royal Wedding in May 2018. He previously rose to fame as the first black musician to win BBC Young Musician in 2016 and winner of The Times South Bank Breakthrough award 2017. Performing regularly as a soloist and twice at the BAFTA awards, Sheku’s debut album ‘Inspiration’ was released early 2018.
Sheku’s version of Bob Marley’s ‘No Woman, No Cry’ went viral worldwide and he became the first BBC Young Musician winner to enter the Official UK Albums Chart with a debut recording, as well as the youngest cellist ever to reach the Top 20. He is one of this year’s biggest breakthrough artists - across any genre.
Sheku has been on a whirlwind adventure since winning BBC Young Musician 2016 - performing Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ at the BAFTAs in front of Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, playing at 10 Downing Street as part of the 30th anniversary of Black History Month, and making his BBC Proms debut as a soloist with Chineke! - Europe’s first majority BME (black and minority ethnic) orchestra - with the video of his performance going viral. He now studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

@@leopirdas6577 I suppose you're right, because all the beautiful things that happen in the poem end up being a dream and it ends with being all sad and begging the night to return and let the dream go on.... @toscanaremi
@toscanaremi 4 жыл бұрын
I love Sheku and his family but I fail to see why Stormzy is also not a role model. Is it because of the type of music he plays? It's your right not to like that type of music but that does not negate the fact that he's doing a lot for young people in Britain

In a sleep that charmed your image I dreamed of happiness, mirage ardent (1) - burning desire Your eyes were softer, your voice pure and sonorous, You radiated like a sky lit by the dawn; you called me and i left the earth To flee with you to the light, The heavens for us opened their clouds (2) - nues = the gates of paradise unknown splendors, divine gleams between views Alas! Alas, sad awakening of dreams, (3) - réveil in french = get out of sleep (4 ) - songe = dream ; traduction : he is sad because when he wakes up he leaves his dreams I call you, o night, give me back your lies, Come back, o mysterious night.
