This is the most incredible cello (and piano) playing I have ever heard in my life. I am blown away at God Almighty that He placed this much gifting and brilliance in one family. When Sheku was playing I felt as if he was plucking every string in my heart. I absolutely love string instruments. It has been years since I have played the violin (and piano) but I would love to become wealthy one day just to hear the Kanneh-Mason family in concert. Isata played the most difficult runs on the piano and is so poised. This is pure excellence. I commend the parents Stuart and Kadiatu for providing structure, direction, and giving their children a clear assignment to set their focus. This is the secret sauce to exceptional parenting.

The Chinese guy who won on marimba percussion was brill, can’t remember his name, is it Fang Something? I liked the guy on Iranian type drum too. Great creative percussive sounds with both his voice & the drum, I liked the way he used the glass cup, and the atmosphere, reminded me of that band I just discovered not long ago: (Black Midi) brill. I’d love to come to one of your performances soon, when virus lockdown has ended it would be a very special treat to remember. God Bless to you & Fam. Earl Heaven.

I've played guitar most of my life (a little under 20 years since I'll be 30 in april) as well as bass and keys and more recently drums. I watch musicians every now and then on similar shows and I'm rarely truly impressed or surprised at the amount of joy the music brought me. I was certainly impressed here, I love the first peice and the style it was written in. It had real inspiration/creativity rather than just over used motifs etc. Executed very well also. Such smooth vibrato and the less common dyad runs were really great I love the dissonance they invoked. I watched another video of his where he was just playing to hear the instrument as his luthier adjusted it and he used similar dyad progressions also. Really interesting. Again really inspiring. You know a musician is truly good if watching them makes you want to pick up your own instrument and try to focus some of that energy into your own playing. His sister did great too and really didn't over or under do it so the cello could sit in just the right spot.
