Doesn't surprise me. I've heard car magazines grumble about the paint quality on a $60k BMW before. They said it was so awful that it looked like it had been applied with a towel.

GORGEOUS!! I have the MPC 1:16 scale version of this car and if it comes out looking as good as yours I'll be very happy! You can wet-sand with 600 grit wet-or-dry sandpaper and then polish with Meguiars mirror glaze or ultimate polish to make it shiny or rather glossy. Yours looks like glass! This is how gloss should always look. Thank you once again for sharing this with the rest of us.

The shelby's were almost entirely of British parts origin except for the drivetrain. The psycho Carol shelby took a light British car and put a nice American 289 in it. Then later the side oiler. I say psycho because that's how he described what the brits thought of him. I was fortunate to have met him on 3 occasions and he was a heck of a nice guy. The second and third time he remembered me, he and my mom both got their names from the same place. Great model as usual, great to see you do a car.

Hi. I know this video is a bit old now, bur as I am looking for a kit of this car, I have found 2 models. Revell and the one you built. Is this one of good quality, is the fit good (as on a Tamiya kit for example) or does it need much rework? I have experienced a quite bad time with an old Revell car kit. And I am used to Bandai Gunpla kits, which are well designed and molded... If you have any advice for me, to help me out with the brand I should take? Thank you, and thumb up for all your amazing custom works and videos.

I had an opportunity to check one of those out once and no they were never that shiny. Another thing I remember from reading a road test of one was that you had to avoid gravel roads like plague ! The aluminum bodies were prone to "dinging" from the road gravel that was thrown against the wheel wells by the rear tires at speed. Sooooooooooo ...... you really need to put a pattern of little bumps in a spray pattern behind the rear wheels on the "outside" of the body. BUT, you have done an excellent job on building that kit. I must also second the motion to paint the white then mask the strips once it's fully cured.

Super práca, radosť pozerať. Chcel by som sa spýtať na farbu alclad 107, či si chromoval všetky diely a či sa môže prelakovať? Vďaka.
@idaemonplasmo8 жыл бұрын
Dá se přelakovat, ale ztratí trochu lesk. Alclad sice dělá lak na chromové barvy, ale taky to trochu utlumí. Já ty chromové díly lepil až na konec a nelakoval jsem je.

Wow! Love your finish. You do it the exact same way as electric guitar bodies (and car bodies of high quality): #2000 wet sanding (you even went 3000!) then with a buffing compound and a buffing wheel to get that glassy, blemish free, super gloss finish. Then hand waxed. Awesome!!!

David, what is the rotational speed on your Proxxon you use for polishing? And is that a special polishing disk or just standard felt?

Proxxon has 5000 to 30 000 RPM. I use minimum 5000 RPM and special Proxxon Polishing Mops. They are very soft and perfect for models. www.brimarc.com/images/products/insets/211065_inset1_xl.jpg
