On the other hand, there's definitely something to be said for a guaranteed seat as opposed to potentially having to stand for an hour. :)

@coco marineblu 2 hours is plenty of time. I had 40 minutes in Hong Kong and still managed to enjoy First in Cathay. Send an order to the restaurant immediately upon arrival, have a cocktail at the bar for 10 minutes, and by then the food is ready. Eat for 20 minutes or so, then brush teeth and do all that in a nice clean bathroom. We have the American Airlines Admiral's Club access and it is worth it. Some lounges have areas for sleeping, showers (good for international and long domestic flights) sectioned off areas for working or business calls, etc. AA also has a special customer service area that can help you rebook missed or cancelled flights without having to wait in line downstairs - worth it. Cons: AA's food isn't as good as Centurion, but AA also has a Flagship Lounge which is a huge step up from the regular lounge. Given that we travel a lot for both business and pleasure, lounge access (with the ability to bring four guests in!) is so worth it.

This was a good video. I want to add a few things. First is that is is only from an USA perspective but maybe that was impilicity? Cause you forgot a forth way to access lounge and that is by getting status with an airline. Then you get access no matter what class your ticket is as long as you fly international. In most other countries you get access to the lounge if you have status no matter what class your ticket is in. As a Star alliance gold member I get access to all star alliance lounges all over the world (except national in the US). That "force" you to be more loyal. And if you have status some airline has a more exclusive lounge as Lufthansa, they have a senator lounge for everyone who is Star Alliance gold member or higher. A bit better selection, more space etc. LOT has that too but just in Warsaw (what I know about). It is a jungle.

I travel a lot, business class all the time and because of that and my status I have access to these lounges. The true is that I barely use them. Either because I don't have enough time between connections, others because they are always busy and most important, they offer cheap beer and food. If I am hungry/thirsty I would go to a bar/restaurant instead. I mostly used them for the toilettes and sometimes the showers.

Most of the world gives lounge access to Business. Some of the best are Etihad, Singapore, Emirates, and the old Turkish in Istanbul. Some the worst i have experienced are the generic shared ones , The KLM at Amsterdam is big and always very full (you often have to queue to get in).

@@MarkReese HI Mark, yes, we only travel as tourists but we have used lounges all over. We recently spent 2 months in Thailand and flew business with Singapore air as I got a good price back in March 2021. The flight out wasn't great as the flight was during January and the transit in Singapore wasn't nice (sent to wait in a holding area with very few facilities). But on the way beck in March it was completely different and we got to use the lounge in Singapore and the flight back to the UK was much nicer.

@@MarkReese You might find this interesting, Like most people we had only travelled in economy then on one flight as we walked out through the business class section my wife made a few comments about how much space there was.So I said to her lets try it once and see if its worth it. I did some research and chose Etihad as our first Business class flight, I chose them due to having a flat bed and the price was good. Also at the time they gave us a limo to the airport and home again, (this is now a pay service) From check in having no queue to priority security it was completely different, we went in to the Etihad lounge at Heathrow and very quickly were being offered drinks. the whole experience changed how we plan our travels now. instead of taking 2 or 3 trips a year we take one big and a smaller one and combine what we would spend on 2 flights to pay for a business class flight. I do shop around for the best price and now we are retired we are a lot more flexible so i can just watch for a good price. Unfortunately at this time prices are not good so I may a have to bite the bullet and pay more for next winters trip.

Airport lounges are the absolute best! Total game changers! But the food and drinks aren't "free". Business and first class tickets are pretty expensive. Even when I have lounge access I almost always spend my time between flights at a decent bar/restaurant and if I'm at my destination I get out of the airport as fast as possible. The food and drinks are terrible in the American and Delta lounges (the ones I have experience with). They're handy if you get stuck for a long time during a layover but the bar/restaurant options are the vastly better experience in every airport I've been in if you just have a typical 1 - 2 hr layover.

If you want to get away from all the commotion and crowds, then this might be for you. However, not all lounges are equal. And many times these lounges are only located in certain terminals of airports for specific airlines. Budget airlines like Southwest, Spirit, Frontier, etc. do not cater to businessmen or first class type passengers. So many times you will find these lounges are no where to be found. So it does not do any good to spend $200-$1,000 per year for a perk you can never, or very rarely, can actually use.

Actually both helpful and informative, without any nasy rudeness that I see in other review videos. They are worth it, and the showers definitely are worth it for long-haul overseas flights. But the lounges can get crowded with slow-moving leisure travelers and loud children, and I've had to ask families to move aside to give me room to place my laptop on the one and only laptop counter, to get some quick work done before my flight. Electical outlets and USB outlets are plentiful in lounges. The SkyClub in MSP is crowded with slow-moving leisure travelers and loud children, basic food and tiny restroom, and only worth it if showering before a connecting overseas flight.

Not quite "everything you need to know", but enough for someone who doesn't travel out of the US.
