...i think it was very 'responsible' of you... and conscientious to follow up Milo galloping very fast without a bridle, to this explanation of the riding brideless process..👍 What you did on Milo, looked so cool/fun.. but to be done properly (as you did), requires a lot of time and skill, as you had already applied, before attempting that!! Bravo👏👏

It’s really nice to see the work that you put in “behind the scenes.” You make it look so easy but I’m glad you show that it isn’t something any horse or rider can simply hop on and expect to happen. I always learn so much from your videos!

Morgan Tilstra no she is not,she just states her opinion, and it's very strong, she also has had those keg surgeries in her leg and broke her ankle,so her EQ isn't the best and it's painful for her to ride with a saddle,so that's why she got bareback tack, and if she was self absored she wouldn't be caring about horses or other people

Yay thank you for making this video. I followed your how to teach your horse to ride bridleless and it worked great on the mare I ride. I loved this video! For people who’s horses aren’t used to the neck rope I recommend practicing walking them around with it on the ground just a little extra tip I wanted to add😜

Lovely horse and great rider. Is it just me or did he hold his head up higher without the bridle?

Great tutorial! I've seen some instagramers/youtubers give really irresponsible advice about going tackless to young riders! Thanks for keeping it REAL!

I love this video SO much. It’s so helpful and I’m definitely going to use these tips in the near future because I’ve been working with my boy so we can get to the point where I feel like he’s listening enough to try bridleless

I trained my pony mare (she's a big pony who looks like a mini warmblood) slightly differently. I had to teach her to neck rein and then to ride bridleless by working her off of the bit with a neck rope just on. Slowly, I used the reins less and neck rope less and it worked beautifully. It worked for her but, of course, all horses are different.

Ugh my pony is very sensitive in the mouth so I've been wanting to try doing some very light bridleless stuff. He's been so good and responsive to my seat and leg, but the issue is without the bridle he goes right for the grass on the edges of the arena and ignores me completely. Kicking and using the crop doesn't help because (quite frankly) he simply does not care. I often use as little rein as possible towards the end of our rides, but I can't take his bridle completely off.

Great job! Happy little horse! Maybe one day, may you please share some thoughts on how to have an easy-catch horse? Mine is really hard to catch and I don't ride her every time I catch her, but it seems like you know how to keep your horses at the gate waiting for you! Thanks if anyone has any thoughts to share! :)

Do u have any recommendations on getting a horse to neck rein? My horse wiggles his head a lot and the second I release contact he tries to go off on his own. Using leg doesn’t help because it’s his head that he moves not his body

How would you use the crop for steering?

By tapping them on the shoulder or neck lightly you can correct them and they usually respond to it, it's something they know bettter then a neckrope so that's how it helps.

Thanks for this video and advices ! I sometimes ride a friend's Arabian with a rope halter and he responds perfectly (his owner never rides bitless), so I want to try a neckrope but was quite afraid to take this next step. Your video makes me realize that indeed I simply have to leave the tack on (I'd use the bit bridle of his owner in this case maybe) to be safe whatever happens :-). And I only use all this in the arena because on trails he's quite nervous anyways.

Hi Shelby. I have seen several advertisements on KZbin on alternative horse shoe products. Example: Pegasus Horserunners (?). Seems like an odd product and my knowledge is limited in this area. I respect your horse knowledge and would truly appreciate your professional opinion. Thanks!

Oh...just to clarify - I AM NOT a salesperson attempting to promote a product. EEK! My curiosity was sparked by a couple KZbin ads while watching hoof repair videos on rescued horses and ponies.

Haiii! This is not a hate comment, I just have a simple question: Aren't your legs moving too much? I have been taught that in order to not confuse the horse, the legs have to have as little movement as possible - ofc not when giving the horse cues. Thank you for your answer! Loving your videos so far. Keep up the great work

the God of Tits and Wine I think it’s a bit different when you’re riding bridleless and getting a horse to really work off of leg cues for their first time without a bridle lol
