I really like your turnout area. It clearly handles lots of rain very well along with the horses prancing around. What kind of base did you use? Would not mind doing something like that in a couple of areas around our farm here in Dayton Oregon.

@@BurroGirl they are a lot more balanced, and careful than people give them credit for. It really only becomes a risk when they aren’t used to being able to move outside.

@Milestone-Equestrian oh absolutely. I never lock my 21 guys and gals up unless it is seriously extreme weather and that's just so I can separate them into compatible groups and feed them under the shelters and still make sure everyone gets their share. That's a pretty rare occurrence. Otherwise they are out on their acreage along with their hay and straw (14 donkeys, 4 mules, 2 mustangs and a pony - all super easy keepers). As a vet I can't help worrying about injuries lol. The main herd has enough room to go flying at full speed and they sometimes do!

Have you ever had any issues intergrading a horse into your herd and if so how have you handled/managed it?
@Milestone-Equestrian15 күн бұрын
Not really! I always ensure they have multiple resources for food and water and lots of space to get away from each other. They can get introduced over a fenceline first for a while, which is what I did with the mustangs for about 2 weeks before they got integrated.
