I think they could have played with this. When Missy was first introduced to everyone, she was single, and Sheldon was talking about which of his friends he would want to date her. At the time, Raj was still shy talking to girls. By the time he was cured of this, Missy had already been married. I think they could have played with the notion of Missy being in love with Raj, or vice versa, and had it so that she tries to cure Raj of his fear of talking to girls. Then they could have had the two of them getting married.
