Working on the Shelf Layout. I create a bump out area to break up the straight line. This area will feature a steep hillside.

When I was young had a Lionel O gauge 12’x 10’ layout with my 2 older brothers. Which we abandoned when I joined USAF in 1970. While stationed in England discovered a hand built OO Gauge steam engine in a second hand store in Banbury. Then I revived my MMR interest and built a 12’ x11” shunting shelf layout in one of our closets. When we lived in Munich Germany I joined a group of MMR enthusiasts. Several of German modelers built micro scenes that were published in Magazines. Often thephotos of the prototype railroads and their scale scene photos were difficult to detect. I greatly appreciate your video and information ! !

Just a thought. Angle your bridge towards the front of the layout. This a little curve is introduced following by straight then you can go into your large bump out. This would have the advantage if eliminating the right angle between the bridge and the layout edge making it look a little more interesting/different. Love the videos. Always anticipating the next. Thank you for sharing.

I like the bump out - great idea, adding some interest and also creating a view block. I’d also second the comment about angling the bridge into that curve, which would also allow for the broader curve you want. You are really moving along now!

I just Checked out that Spruce Layout. That was one Awesome Layout. So where you at in West Virginia? We are up North in Wetzel County right along the Ohio River. Like what you are doing. All you have to do is wait until the wife isn't home if you decide to put on those 2 Loops for constant running. That's what I always do. This way she can't say NO lol. We just tore down our old Layout and rebuilding a new more friendly one. Just Subscribed.

We are in Strasburg, VA living at our business HQ now, but are from just over the line Eastern Panhandle. Most of our properties (rentals & recreationally) are in WV.

You are correct, I watch all different scale KZbin channels, I get a lot of good ideas from all the different modelers. Those who complain are blind and stuck on stupid. I have to put up with the same blind ideas with Fishing, hunting from fly fishing ( who are stuck up ) to Archery where you have stuck ups who believe every one should use a traditional bow and not a recurve or a compound and for goodness sake not a cross bow. I believe you have to know about everything so one can make the correct decisions. As far as hunting, I want to make a clean kill so to many animals have been injured and run off to doe, just like a layout, if you don't do it right your locomotive could just hit a spot and die that will cost a lot of money. So let the crybabies cry and continue with what you do I will continue to watch unless you go over 20 minutes and I become BORED!!!
