Great video once again as always Sandeep! However would like to add a few points: 1) The reason for the concept of hot side and cold side fluid entry/exit was not touched upon. If I am not mistaken it is because heated fluid (not hot fluid) gets lighter and cooled fluid (not cold fluid) gets heavier. This, in addition to thermo-siphonic action, saves a lot of pumping energy. 2) The photograph shown around 7:00 is of the floating head cover with the backing rings. It is not of a test ring during hydrotest. May like to add a correction pop up comment. 3) The floating head cover marked in the diagram is actually the Shell Cover and Floating Head cover is inside it. Nevertheless, keep up the good work!

Thank you very much for your informed comment. 3. You are right. In diagram Shell cover is written as floating head cover. I have also not done correction in video. Thanks for correction. 2. You are right, I have wrongly said test ring for floating head cover. I don't know why I made such mistake. I was in so hurry to record this video :) 1. I do not agree with your first point. For thermosyphon effect two phase flow is required which is not the case. Other logic given by you is very good to memorise this fact. But it also not seems logical to me. There will be pressure drop for both side. Configuration is more of convention I think. P.S. What do you do ? Are you working somewhere?

Sir, if he medically unfit due to eye sight.can he get another chance I mean second medical check up in all psu? If he got the second chance means.will they consider the previous gate exam and interview he got cleared and selected into company if cleared second medical test. (or) he should write again the gate exam and should clear the interview. please reply sir. Sir, another doubt ongc keeps eye sight limit as 4D. It means right and left eye combined 4D.or each eye limit is 4D.

Hi Sandeep. Excellent explanation. I have a few queries. Why fixed head heat exchangers are suitable for low pressure applications ? You have written this in your slide. Is it because it is used in condensing application and that condensing process will create low pressures ? Does condensing application mean that temperatures in these applications will be moderate ? What is the range of temperature which can be characterized as moderate temperatures ? Thanks

Because in fixed there is no room for thermal expansion. In overhead condenser temperature is low.

Yes ( due to the combined effect of concurrent and counter-current flow & increased tube side flow length in confined area) but when the counter flow in heat exchanger heat transfer will be more but straight length of tube will be more if we will not provide the second pass of tube
