“This song is about the minutemen and how much we love them”

Remember listening to them play an extended version of this on bbc radio 1 just after John Peel passed and it was so raw and hearfelt. Listening to this now as Steve embarks upon his next journey. RIP.

I met Steve in Dunedin NZ, gave a cheeky sod like me the time of day. Top Man. We saw nearly every gig they played in NZ, we hitchhiked around the country. Thanks Mr Albini.

I love this song and Doris and wing walker. But their full length albums never really hit me the same as when I listen to the first EP songs. There are definitely stand out tracks like Prayer to God. Squirrel song. End of radio etc. and Terraform is probably my favorite of their full lengths in terms of an entire album. But none of them give me the same chills I get from Doris or this song especially

my thoughts exactly. for me the phenomenon is similar to that one of converge with "dead" and "two day romance", especially when it comes to that live at the masonic temple from 1995. a comment on some such video said "these guys literally invented emo and moved on", as one said on a now gone video of this song. not to say i don't adore the direction converge moved in after that, which isn't the case for shellac, but still, my point is these abnormal findings in otherwise coherent discographies are really worth their weight, length? in gold. i was searching for years where could that number girl guitar sound be coming from, and then stumbled upon billiard player song
@XViTNg Жыл бұрын
@@lovrepetricI acfuslly know what you mean on that. Altho I still love all of converge For me the song “Undo” is like an amazing screamo song by them - and then nothing else quite sounds like it. A totally random. But weird observation also - if you listen to the Jesus Lizard albums Goat and especially Liar. And imagine the songs going about 50-75% faster - they sound like converge in the You Fail Me era lol
@lovrepetric Жыл бұрын
@@XViTNg yeah, absolutely!! kurt ballou admitted on several occasions he'd been aiming to imitate them for a long time, namely "then comes dudley", which is most evident in "hell to pay" and "trigger". i still think "monkey trick" is peak post hardcore, which translates to peak music, up there with "corpse pose". and while we're at it, have you ever noticed that practically the entirety of screamo and the surrounding styles is summed up in that one bridge from "if you had lips", at 1:56? i could name 15 bands this instant that had their sound shaped upon this passage, even though they rather got the influence through some other bands in between the same goes for dinosaur jr's "little fury things" and dsbm and much more
