Her Psychologist told her that some studies have shown that holding a baby does in fact release endorphins that bring comfort/happiness to an individual. So I guess that's why reborns make us happy. Great ideas. Also, play with them, cuddle them and look into their eyes. I find that the eyes are done so well. Have them interact with another doll. Maybe when you see your doll being friends with another doll it'll help you see them in a different way.

These are great tips, Shell! I especially enjoyed your commentary on the psychology of why some of these things work. My own tips to add have to do with the other sensory aspects of reborns, not just how they look, although that is huge, of course. The thing I had to do as soon as I got into this hobby was learn how to stuff and weight them myself. My very first one came reeking of cigarette smoke and weighted with sand that was leaking everywhere. The sand bags were also so awkwardly placed that when cradled in my arms, it felt like she was arching backward, the way newborns do when they're uncomfortable or fighting sleep. It was very off-putting. So I learned to adjust them and also to make them smell nice when that was necessary, and I've found both scent and weight distribution can be really powerful for some people, and can make the difference between keeping a doll or selling it on. Loved the dog bloopers at the end! LOL

Oh yes this is so true! 99% of the time that I buy a baby now I do the same I pull them apart and adjust the weighting and often make sure the magnet matches the same way as the rest of mine 😅 But 100% sometimes you receive babies and it feels like a hard stuffed football! I do understand why some stuff them more as it can be easier to pose them, but not as cuddly! Lol 🥰

I went to an actual shop to pick my reborn and I chosen the first one that took my eye. I looked at all the others but kept going back to this certain one and I couldn’t leave without her. We bonded as soon as she was in my arms and I’ve not stopped bonding with her since. I genuinely look at her and can’t believe she’s mine. Even all my family love her❤️
