I think he’s adorable. Several of my dolls have issues with rooting and painting. My Levi boy has a great paint job, but the goofiest rooting I’ve ever seen, and my Levi girl is stiff as a board and so far I haven’t messed with her. But then most of my dolls are budget babies, and weren’t that expensive. I guess it all comes down to whether or not you think you can live with the things that bother you about him. I’d rate his painting and rooting as so-so. To me, it wouldn’t be a deal breaker, but you need to be happy with your purchase.

His rooting is very plugged. You can root a thick head of hair without it being plugged. I do it by rooting 2 strands per “hole” and having them closer together. I suck at hair cutting though🤣

I have a levi painted just like that and the rooted is plugged the same. The artist was a newbie at the time, I really thought yours was from the same artist. Anyway dispite that I still have him 2 years later.

Yes I didn’t mind his rooting at first and I think if it was just the rooting or just the paint it would have been a save but when both is together it ruins it a bit :(

There isn’t a regulated price in the reborn community which really sucks. I thought that if you paid about $500 that you would definitely get a lovely quality doll and I wouldn’t say that I received a great quality doll for what I paid.

I know exactly what you mean re red babies, I had a box opening where she was VERY red (disappointing box opening video here on KZbin) and I didn’t like it (I didn’t expect it either as I had asked the seller re the colouring and wasn’t told she was RED) it looks like the artist of your baby was relatively new to reborning.

Yes, it’s just a case of the paint not being blended properly and a bit sloppy with the creasing, in terms of colour, that’s personal preference, some babies have purple on their feet and can have very red newborn skin tones. The rooting is quite pluggy, which is not for everyone. Like people have commented, it depends what you paid for him, you get what you pay for. He is quite cute for a basic reborn.

I think I paid decent money for him, about the average price they are selling for? and I believe the artist has been painting for about 7 years so I kind if expected higher quality but that's okay, it is what it is. :)

@@ShellBellsChannel it's hard isn't it? You don't wanna offend them but at the same time constructive criticism helps even if you don't know the skill. I told an artist I purchased a reborn off that I wasn't a fan of how the reborn wasn't cuddly. It was soo stiff and the shoulders looked like a footballers. I just wasn't happy to think I'd have to buy cable ties just to take out the stuffing in order to have a cuddly baby. All she said was oh, some people like them fuller. Oook then lol.

I felt bad for the artist as I was sure she was a decent artist and had done her best but i did some more research and she has been painting for at least 7 years so the work is just quite sloppy unfortunately.

@@ShellBellsChannel That is unbelievable that she’s been an artist for seven years, I’ve studied art for many years, and have finished my third baby now, I guess I am very very picky because I will not make something for someone else that I wouldn’t want someone else to make that for me! You can send the baby back because I feel so bad for you, I definitely would not be satisfied with that and I’m not trying to cause problems but I just feel really bad for you and you have the right to send it back! Unfortunately we all have to stand up for ourselves because there are a few that would stand up for us right?🥰❤️

Defo looks like a boy His paint not bad, but yeah i would keep him for awhile like you said then if still not keen or bond with him sell , my first reborn is completly different my second took me a while to get used to my second it wasnt the paint it was how he felt when cuddling/holding him and dressing, i was so used to my first reborn love how she feels, but im getting used to the diffrences x

Hello, oh wow I hope his price reflects the hair rooting and painting. I feel he is a reborn beginner baby, not for a seasoned collector. Yes he was way way too stiff. Babies can be all different colours born. The dots are not meant to be there. The artist properly is not experienced and is not checking each layer. The paints are smeared and not blended. The creases are just painted and not blended . The rooting is just horrible, plugging is for beginner artist whom are learning the art and patience and pride of reborn dolls and the price would reflect this. I am sorry but you did ask for an opinion. Yes I have painted many reborns and silicone babies. I would sell and move on. You are right, the baby is not terrible but is not a baby for a seasoned collector. 🤗❤️

Yes I guess I thought he was a decent priced baby but after getting him I Checked his kit price and that’s close to $150 so I can understand the price being on the low side. I totally agree with your opinion and will sell him and move on, I bet someone will love him 🥰

@@ShellBellsChannel I've had the same thing happen and I just took it as a "style" and a bargain baby but I think with experience and practise they soon see that purple tones aren't so healthy I think blues work better in that area. Btw I am loving your channel! It's so great to see fellow Australians doing youtube content. The colours she chose are fine but it's not very well executed... 😟 In my opinion, you shouldn't be able to tell it's paint on the reborns if they are well done. You shouldn't see some weird spots or smeared paint 😅 and for the hair, well, you said everything in the video 😅 I wouldn't keed a baby like this one personally 😟 he looks fine from faraway but as soon as you get close, he doesn't look very realistic saddly 😔

Oh no ,it's not good at all .Spots should not be on his painting .His toes have clogged paint .His lips should be smooth and no paint left around the nose. As for the hair it is not rooted right ,it's got too many hairs in .I root from the middle and it doesn't clump. If she is a new artist he should be very cheap and the buyer should be informed. If I sent a baby out like that they would be onto ebay and he would be coming back

I just looked on her page and it looks like she started her page in 2014. I didn’t think she was a new artist as she has quite a few pics and dolls on her page. I have also seen the name around a fair bit. I guess that’s just her style of work ?

@@ShellBellsChannel I think sometimes people just get complacent with their work. They feel if they can do something why try and improve or do new techniques. If someones been reborning for awhile and hasn't improved I don't think telling them will be beneficial. They'll just get defensive.

I love my levi. Not keen on his painting or rooting though. If I bought it second hand for a low price it wouldn't be so bad but if it came direct from the artist I would send him back.

@@ShellBellsChannel I'm a new artist myself so I understand where your coming from I've been practicing for a year now before I was happy with my painting and with reassurance from other people have only just sold my first one which I'm glad to say the lady loved him. My first few were a real disaster and I would never have attempted to sell them it would have felt like cheating someone out of money. Like you I wouldn't want to be horrible to the artist but they are not ready to be selling yet they just need more practice.
