Hello. I have a LED strip on my kitchen counter and I have a switch built into the kitchen unit to turn on the LED strip. The tape and switch is 12v. Can I connect Shelly 1 so I can control the tape via Wi-Fi but also be able to control it via the switch?

To make it work with the switch as well as wifi the wall switch needs to switch -ve 12v and then you connect the switch wire to the SW terninal. Normally wall switches are on the +12v side so you will have to route -12v to the switch and use that.

What if you have a 12v rv light switch with just two wires? How can I wire this up with the switch and get a wifi signal on the app to my phone. Been trying it but so far not connecting just using the two wires + -

Look at the diagram at 1:48 of the video. Apart from the physical light switch you need to also supply the Shelly relay a constant 12v so that the Wifi is always on. This constant 12v needs to come from another source on your rv that is always on.

I got it and works great. no more walking down to the trailer to put on the forward led lights at night. The rest of the trailer is on the Oncommand system but for some reason the forward light wasn't put on it? You video was most helpful along with some forums.

I’m trying to use this as a garage door opener button. I looked at the button in my garage and there is 2 white wires going into it. Can I just follow the 1st diagram and that’s it? Also how do I know which one is hot and which one is neutral? I’m ignorant of most of electrical

These diagrams are only for 12V use and not for house mains power. Please be careful it is dangerous with mains power. To use with a garage door you would power the Shelly 1 with 12V as in the diagram. Set the jumpers before hand! Then normally the 2 white wires are connected to the 1 and 0 terminals on the Shelly 1. It does not matter which way around they are connected. Then when you activate the Shelly 1 via your app or home assistant it will join 1 terminal to the 0 terminal. This is the same as connecting the 2 white wires together. Please consult your garage manual to make sure the 2 white wires are the switch wires.

You can do all this with a standard plug outlet right? So it just controls whatever is plugged in to the outlet?

The wiring of the Shelly 1 I show in this video is just for 12volts. Not for standard plug outlets.
