I love your openness Shelly, sounds like you’ve been through the mill these past few weeks😢 You’re such a joy to watch, hope you get that new computer soon.

YESSS! To The Phantom Tollbooth. Looking forward to your video on 1960s books, especially the ones that no one reads anymore (that always fascinates me). Sooo sorry about your computer troubles.

First - your makeup is just gorgeous! Second - glad your sciatica is feeling better. I'm sure you're hearing/reading all the things, but a regular yoga practice can help manage it. Core strength, hip opening, and twists all help give some relief. Lastly - I hope you enjoy The Phantom Tollbooth. I recently had a second read with my daughters and we all just love it. No one will be mad if it's not for you, though. ❤

I’m looking forward to your upcoming look at the books from the early 1960s. I admit that a good chunk of my books from that era are Peanuts collections by Charles M. Schulz. I still love those.

Ok so right after your camera fell over, KZbin gave me a commercial break 😂 too funny! I have had to take a break from making videos, and I also stopped watching other people’s videos for awhile! It does make me sad to not be a participant, and I start subconsciously avoiding it. I call it going into “ostrich mode” where I just stick my head in the sand and deal with my real life problems for awhile. I liked how you put it, “changing the channel in my brain”… that’s exactly what booktube can do for me as well! I hope things calm down for you soon!

@@amusicalbookworm I really identify with this too. I say I’m getting overmaxed and something has to give. Usually I have to take a day or two off work and hunker down until I feel like I can climb back out.

I'm so excited to hear what you think about The Heart's Invisible Furies! I read it a couple of years ago and really loved it. It's one of those books that gave me a greater sense of empathy I think. I'm reading another of his books right now, A History of Loneliness, and I'm liking it okay.

Glad you are feeling better physically and mentally. It sucks about your computer. They never die when it is convenient, but then again it would never be convenient. I'm eager to see your 60's books video. I enjoy books from that decade so I'm interested what was popular that you had never heard of.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is an excellent book. I never say this generally, but the movie is even better than the book. Both are heartbreaking on so many levels.

Oh I hear ya. TWO of the last 4 books I read were DNF’s. One was Pixel Flesh - How Toxic Beauty Culture Hurts Women. Should be fascinating, right? Then found the author’s Instagram page and concluded the book was mostly a cathartic exercise for her in trying (and not yet succeeding) to grapple with the pressure she is still feeling. Not that there’s anything wrong with that per se, but I hoped the author was coming from a different perspective. Our Town makes an appearance in Beautyland. 😁 I knew it was popular but had a little FOMO because I never saw it and don’t really know anything about it.
