Campbell was amazing omg i’m just so irritated Danielle wasn’t black. That’s part of her character, but the voice was good

Ya, I agree. she like tried to sound like she was and it was really annoying.

they probably go to a white school so it was hard to find black actresses (which IMO then you shouldnt do the show at all but what can ya do?)

Maddie Finkel It’s fits more if she’s black but I understand.

Jade Victoria the problem is that Danielle has dialogue in the show where she calls Campbell a “white girl” as sort of an insult. So... Danielle being white ruins the continuity at certain points in the show. Does not take away from the actress’s talent at all Now... y’all think a white Danielle is bad? I did this show at my school last year, and I played La Cienega. Me. A white, cisgender female. See now that just ruined the entire character. I had a blast, but it was a dumb choice on my directors part.

For everyone saying that they’re yelling, the mic isn’t supposed to just make you louder, it’s supposed to enhance you’re talking. You can’t just whisper into a mic, and expect it to make your speech sound perfect. There still needs to be energy and power, The actors clearly have a lot of energy, and I could make out every single word they said (which imo is the most important part)

@bowtomemortalscum62925 жыл бұрын
They are not yelling they are projecting number one and number two they have mics strapped to their faces. In theater you learn to project, not to talk normally into a mic. And also why of all things to you point that out instead of the amazing jobs they did in general. I honestly think that this is the best dress rehearsal I’ve ever seen. They’re were barely any mistakes, which is a very rare occurrence in my rehearsals. So I think they did amazing

It’s projecting, in choir and theatre you need to be loud no matter if you have a mic or not. They aren’t yelling, it’s making sure the voice is heard clearly throughout the entire audience.

I love this show!! I'm a seventh year cheerleader. My school takes our team very seriously. I honestly remind myself a lot of Eva. I made the Varsity team as a sophomore without cheering my freshmen year on JV. This production of the show is one of my favorites. Great job everyone! Did y'all use your school cheer squad for some of the more elite tumbling and stunts? They look amazing on the stage/floor.

I don’t think that it matters. In professional shows ofc it does but in a high school it really doesn’t. They’re having fun they’re doing it well. They’re not discriminating they’re working with what they’ve got. Danielle is never specified as black just ethnic so chill. And tbh they’re good.
@bn_rose_gold4 жыл бұрын

@katiesedlock52186 жыл бұрын
this is a high school production
@dsmproductionsofficial1316 жыл бұрын
Katie Sedlock then why not cast to description like low budget productions usually do, it’s like for Annie your less likely to have a actual redhead but your saying there were no real blondes to audition and that a brunette with a bad wig better fitted the part, if I had a low budget project I’d try better to use the talent I had to look realistic.
@katiesedlock52186 жыл бұрын
Hi you obviously don’t know this show. The character Eva has to be a brunette to start and then during act one come back out with the same exact hair as the character Campbell. Our wigs are from Bobbi Pinz, he is not low budget, he is very well known. Please keep unkind uneducated comments to yourself. Thanks
@dsmproductionsofficial1316 жыл бұрын
Katie Sedlock sorry I know that seller and he tried to flog me a wig that was plastic, Broadway did it more convincing and why do both the girls need wigs it’s just lazy casting when your budget is so low and I’ve seen the show even though it’s nothing compared to the movie.

The choice to make Danielle a white girl is a confusing one. Especially if you consider they has to change the word "White" with "Nice" because it would make no sense if they didn't. But you can't deny that the vocals in this is outstanding for a high school.
