@@BluegrassBackcountry that means a lot! Thank you!! I sent you a f/r on FB, I think I want to try and model my trip around you guys', though i feel SUPER novice compared to you guys. Can't wait to continue watching today! Thanks for the offer for help too, I'll take it for sure! Exciting!

@@skenchoutdoors hey, you got to start somewhere! I find that these Sheltowee videos feel a bit on the rougher side to me compared to what I am making now, but that’s the beauty of growth in an art form like videography! All forms should be seen as a pathway to where you want to go! I accepted your friend request, feel free to stay in touch! (Btw, thanks again for the info on the champion poplar tree- that’s on my list for a future video!)

Been watching Bryan for a couple years. Great videos. Looks like you had a great time out there looking forward to seeing more. We was out there this past weekend from Holly bay marina to Cumberland falls and it was beautiful but rough. So many blowdowns! Hope your feet are doing better.
@BluegrassBackcountry4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tonya! We’ve had a wonderful time! It’s been challenging but very rewarding. Yes those blowdowns affected our pacing so much! It was a struggle! My feet pain is manageable at this point which is better than where I was at a couple of weeks ago! Thank goodness for ibuprofen and a massage ball!
@tonyabrowninghikes4 жыл бұрын
@@BluegrassBackcountry Glad they are getting better. Also i wasn't sure if the blowdowns were normal or they just couldn't clear them due to the shutdown. Definitely slowed my group down.

That's a beautiful area. I've done one hike in the BSF back in 2016. We did the Twin Arches loop. My friend and fellow KZbinr Papaw in the Woods lives in Oneida and he's an expert on the area. If you aren't a subscriber of his channel you should check him out sometime. Looking forward to watching this series through.

The BSF has to be one of my favorite parts of the thru hike!! So beautiful with the rock features and overlooks. Definitely recommend this part of the trail! I’ll have to check Papaw in the Woods for sure! Thanks for letting me know about him, and for watching!!

You’re welcome and thanks so much for watching!! We are currently 134miles in and just passed laurel lake. We woke up this morning to someone stealing nick’s food bag! What a terrible thing! We have family coming to take us to London to get more supplies for him and then we’ll be back on trail this afternoon. We have been using the REI Hiking Project App, which has been fairly reliable. But if we decide to switch I will get ahold of you. Thanks again man!

A thing to do sometimes if you are not sure about be on the trail is to look back and see ifyou see the trail marker. 👌

Yes you are absolutely right! We’ve tried that in some sections, but the blazes are so few that you couldn’t see any on either side. Let’s hope it gets better as we go north!

Not sure if this will help your feet, but I use Birkenstock Insoles and they have made a huge difference.

Thanks for the recommendation! I tried some heel insert insoles but they did not help much. If I ever try lone peaks again, I’ll have to try these out! Thanks for watching!

The Big South Fork is looking beautiful at this time of year! I'm glad you had such great weather to start. Thanks for posting mid-hike, can't wait to see the rest. Did you end up going with the Altra shoes? I couldn't quite tell.
@BluegrassBackcountry4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching man! Big South Fork has been one of the best highlights of the trip so far. Those rock walls are unreal. And yes I went with the Altra’s, they have gotten the job done but you sure feel your feet getting pounded with so little cushion, I’m not sure I could do it again. Feet pain has been the biggest issue for me. They dry really well and tread is awesome, just don’t support my arch/heel that well. Hope you’re well!
